Co-Holbeach boss Drury was then pushed over by Diamonds defender Jack Ashton as he went to confront those targeting his player – and things got out of control.
Did he get lost on the way then?

I think Graham Salisbury was the one I was thinking of.Olly wrote:Mr Singh sticks out in my mind as well! Good ref iirc. Another name that comes to mind is Graham Salisbury from I think our league 1/division 2 year, but I might be wrong on that one.davealbon wrote:Kettle, Coffey, Friend and Hall are the ones that always stuck in my mind. It's never a good thing if you remember a referee's name, with the exception of the excellent Jarnail Singh.
I remember the referee against Leigh RMI. I even wrote a letter to OBN (Talbot) informing him of how poor the referee's officiating was, fair play to OBN, he personally sent a response back.

I remember that game, bizarre refereeing in the extreme. Did Talbot's response indicate he agreed with you, or did he play it with a straight bat?diamondgeezer1 wrote:I think Graham Salisbury was the one I was thinking of.Olly wrote:Mr Singh sticks out in my mind as well! From what I remember he said that not all decisions will go the way we want them to go, and he would be making a complaint. Wish I had kept the letter now.

Errr...“It may have looked bad as I was on the pitch, but I did nothing wrong.”
Obviously it would be difficult, if not impossible to generate a balanced report of what exactly happened and who was to blame, but for him to suggest that he and his staff did nothing wrong is utterly laughable, especially considering his aggressive and provocative attitude that was show at many other points in the afternoon what with screaming at his players and trying to wind up our fans after their goal and while he went down the tunnel at halftime. I may be biased here, but I'd find it difficult to believe anything such a man says really, he made very clear he's a lunatic.

Nice to see him taking an interest in what's happening at the club these days, but hardly a Pulitzer-prize winning account of the incident at the end. Although to be fair, local sports journos are in such a weak position these days it's hardly worth them bringing up these kind of things at all. The relationship between the local press and football clubs has changed so much over the last 5-10 years the papers can't risk upsetting the clubs they cover, and now act as nothing more than mouthpieces for them. I noticed in his match report Mark only referred to the 'home dugout' as he does here, and didn't have the confidence to mention the identity of the instigators & those officials that elected to enter the field of play. If he did Holbeach wouldn't give him any more quotes, so he's forced to report from the perspective of a club press officer rather than an independent journalist. A shame things have turned out that way and Mark's only doing what others in the same position feel compelled to do.

Agree, paulg and Lea probably remembers why he was banned for a period by KC for reporting on 'his take on things' at Nene Park.

Indeed - but that made it even more surprising that the ET did so little when R&DFC were clearly going to the wall - failing to dig deeper into statements like this oneTrek wrote:Agree, paulg and Lea probably remembers why he was banned for a period by KC for reporting on 'his take on things' at Nene Park.
