Barwell or Diamonds v Grays or Welling United

Post by Olly »

Well a home draw is nice, but not quite Sheffield United away...

Welling 17th in the National League, Grays 8th in the Ryman Premier.

A real banana skin tie.. Can't get our hopes up with both teams at a higher level.. Pretty disappointing with all the clubs we could of been drawn against. Think we could struggle with the 1000 mark to be honest, 900 if that :x

**providing we win tonorrow

Got to get through tomorrow first, but that tie is winnable! I genuinely fancy us against either of them at home.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Well it could be considered a little disrespectful to say you're disappointed with a draw, but seeing as though I'm sure Grays and Welling fans will be probably saying the same thing when they would have rathered a league team, I will say I'm disappointed with the draw for sure. A home draw gives us a chance against anyone arguably, but either a National League side or a step 3 side near the top of their league meaning we'd have to be at our best to have any chance of progressing, with neither team particularly well supported either isn't really the sort of draw we would have liked at this stage.

Having said that, IF we win tomorrow night, I'd still fancy us to give any Non League team, even a National League side a good game at the D&D, so it could be a chance to progress even further for the side that wins tomorrow night. I think we'd get over 1000 though, the First Round Proper is a big deal and if it was Welling then I'd fancy them to bring a couple 100 at least. Though it does feel like that first 1000+ home attendance is really eluding us at the moment!

Regardless of the draw, a win tomorrow pockets us £12k and that's a good enough reason to go and win!

Absolutely awful draw. Nothing positive apart from being at home.

I disagree. We are two winnable home games away from being one game away from playing at Old Trafford. :D ...

...saying that, given how today went, even if we got that far we'd end up drawing Altrincham away.

That's the nature of a Cup draw. I'm not thinking beyond tonight now. We need to win just to pocket £12,500 first. The team need to be 100% focused on this match.

I'm with fentiger79; Grays would be winnable, but I expect Welling to beat them at home tonight. To beat Welling we would have to play out of our skins and hope that they had a really bad day at the office. It does happen, but rarely.
