Fixtures

Post by Sid »

I know the UCL fixture sec. has got a bit of a kicking on here at times, but I guess the Hellenic guy could be worse. Highmoor Ibis have already finished their league fixtures and are top of the table by 3 points from Flackwell Heath who have FIVE still to play! Both clubs have applied for promotion to step 4, seems very unfair.
Flackwell Heath, from near High Wycombe, are one of the few Hellenic clubs far enough east to be potential league opponents of ours next year, I seem to recall them playing in the Isthmian League for quite a few years, so perhaps okay grading wise.

Whilst we are in a non kicking UCL mood. (It must be the euphoria of promotion)
This season the UCL Prem has run with an odd number of clubs (21) which would mean one club every Saturday could be without a fixture. Yet I believe this past Saturday was the first time we have been without a game on a Saturday all season and also whenever a club plays a midweek game they are always relatively local.

Can we get back to kicking them please.
Sure the events in the Hellenic league will be seen as a challenge for next season by the UCL.
Looking forward to July when we will see a fixture list from Aug to April 2016 with at worst 2/3 straight home or away fixtures, yes the will be alterations for Cup games & postponements but the basis of a seasons fixtures will be known. Sure it will help Welly as the UCL will have to work in/around our fixture list so at least they will (should) have a sensibly arranged programme.

The guy that does the projections over on the Non League Matters forum has Flackwell Heath in with us next season in the SLD1C.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

It states on spreadsheet we'll be playing Flackwell Heath next season in the Southern Central, and hopefully be beating them. :D

You do realise that the spreadsheet on NLM forum is only a 'best guess'? ;)

I think the next steps are when the FA Leagues Committee meets in the middle of May (once all the playoffs are complete) and allocates teams to the various leagues.

There is then a period where things may change due to appeals etc, up until the League AGM's, when in theory places are confirmed. Last year the Southern League one was on 21st June.

(it looks like the average age of a Southern League committee member is similar to that of the UCL... )

The SL1C fixtures were released on about 17th July last season.
