Remembering Dale Roberts
Are any plans in place to remember Dale before or during Saturdays match v Harrowby?
Last year we gave a minutes applause after 26 mins, but I am not too sure about that as it can distract players and what happens if we should score during that minute.?

Yes, I often hear players complaining about clapping and chanting during the game, they'd much prefer it if we kept noise to a minimum and whispered amongst ourselves. The clapping and shouting is a major distraction to them!sussexdiamond wrote:Are any plans in place to remember Dale before or during Saturdays match v Harrowby?

If we happen to score in that minute I'm sure as mature adults (myself not included) we can just carry on chanting and clapping after the goal, should either team score in the 26th minute.
There you go problem solved!
Re: Remembering Dale Roberts
The last couple of years we did this (Spalding away and Buckingham away) it worked very nicely I thought, and I don't think the players were/will be overly distracted. It's only once a year and at the end of the day it's a form of remembrance in the context of football so hopefully the players feel that their ultimate tribute to Dale will be to continue giving their all for the Diamonds cause on the pitch - hopefully one day we might even score a goal during the 24th minute, and if that be the case I'm sure it would deserve an even bigger celebration than usual.
Re: Remembering Dale Roberts
Away at Spalding almost ended in a most spectacular fashion with Arron King almost scoring with a great shot just as we were applauding

Re: Remembering Dale Roberts
I thought the minutes applause on 24 minutes (it was 24, Dale's age wasn't it??) was very fitting and I don't think for a second players are put off by it!!
I believe there are plans to do something again, as is fitting, but exactly what I'm not sure - it'll be announced shortly I believe.
I can't believe it's been 4 years - where did that go ?? A pint in Dale's Bar to toast this talented young man is a must in Saturday !!
