FA Vase - Hullbridge Sports V AFC Rushden & Diamonds

Hullbridge are from the Basildon area of Essex.

They're 5th in the Essex Senior League (Step 5). See here: http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/divisions/26/

Another draw in just about the worst part of the country for me...only 275 miles according to route planner.

Looking at their ground, looks more Cockfosters than Wulfrunians...

From the pics and descriptions i've seen/read it sounds like Peterborough Northern Star's ground.

Good comparison. Unlikely I'll be checking its accuracy in person though!

We certainly could have hoped for a better tie than this one - not just because it looks such a challenge to visit. Hullbridge got to the fourth round last season, losing to Sholing who won the Vase.

Holbeach v Huntingdon is annoying, hopefully they'll kick each other about before one has to lose.

I think I've read before that the ESL is one of the weaker Step 5 leagues, due to the amount of clubs in the South-East of the country. Still, it'll be an interesting test and a new ground. :)

West Auckland v Shaw Lane Aquaforce. What a name!

Our 'region' was interesting then, Kempston going to Norwich and we're going to Essex. :?

I reckon our region in this draw was ties 26-39.

I for some reason thought that four regions would be used for the draw but looking at it I reckon there were 5:

North (1-14)
Midlands (15-25)
East (26-39)
South East (40-50)
South West (51-64)

In the next round, if past experience is anything to go by, the draw will be split into north and south so if we were to progress that far there would be a chance of a long trip.

However, they've only picked up two points from their last 5 games.
