Hopefully the person who was responsible will be found, and banned. I have 100% faith in the guys behind the scenes will do all they can.

Regarding swearing, for many it's a way of releasing emotions and stresses throughout the week. When my dad first took me to Nene Park, he probably told me that I would hear swearing and 'rude' things being said and it was fine as long as I didn't repeat it or say any of it at home. If someone goes to football and is offended by swearing, then I don't think a football stadium is the place for them!

I think It depends in what context the words are being used. For example, I could walk into a pub tomorrow and say, "f**k me the weather's sh**e" and nobody would bat an eyelid. On the other hand, if I walked in and said to someone, "f**k you you f**king ****, you're a complete f**king pr**k" then I don't think it would be appreciated!!.. I wouldn't do that by the way, just using it as an example!! :lol: and I hate the 'C' word as much as anyone!!

Well speaking for me, I'm a gnats fart away from saying stuff stewarding games, why should I give up my free time when people can't behave with even an ounce of decency? I pay to go in and get to see about 60% of a home game if I'm lucky. I'm not the only person who is starting to feel this way!!

If we do give up, what's left? Paying for professional stewards who will come down on people like a ton of bricks that's what. If that's what you want then fine, it'll cost the club lots of money which is a real waste and a massive shame, but at least I'll get to enjoy home games rather than feel like it's unpaid work, in fact work that I'm paying to do and getting abuse for doing so along the way!!!

It's up to you guys out there who feel it's acceptable to swear and behave inappropriately (and it is a very small number who do this, lets not tar everyone with this brush!!) carry on and easy going volunteers will be replaced with hard nosed professionals - your call really!!

Personally I'd rather people behaved, we all swear a bit from time to time but often, aided by drink, people go way over what is acceptable. Bad behaviour, and I include OTT swearing, is magnified at this level and it is starting to give OUR club a really bad name.

I'm sure others, like me, will be considering their options over the summer !! Like I say, this is just a personal view, just thought I'd share it and provide a little food for thought.

Since everyone wants to have a say, I must as well make a few points of my own:

1. Punching someone is wrong (well most of the time) even if they are a C-bomb.
2. Using the C-bomb excessively is wrong even if a particular person is a C-bomb. I believe that occasionally using the C-Bomb in the right context (e.g the Alex Deakin song) can be amusing
3. People can't moan about bad language and then moan if there is No atmosphere. CAKE AND EAT IT :idea: You can't have a happy clappy Jesus army at a football match.
4. I think the annoys me most is people at the club having the sort out the aftermath of 'punch gate' when they clearly have better things than would want to be dealing with.
5. Last but not least... Pat Rayment is still a C-Bomb and always will be.

Can't you? Why not? TBH the idea of a crowd that's positive and doesn't swear as much appeals to me. I'm sure that families attending would also say the same. If we're a community club then fans need to act like it IMO. It is possible to have a good atmosphere without swearing!

I agree that overusing the C word is unacceptable and unnecessary however expecting No swearing whatsoever is unrealistic and far too OTT.

I believe swearing in the right context adds to the atmosphere, it's getting the right balance.

Pigman I agree with what you are saying & I suppose this is another of my fears. What if all the volunteers get fed up ? what will happen then? Will any of the the abusive lads give up their time to cover the roles? I doubt it. If the club has to pay for stewards & the like, this will take a chunk of the match day takings etc so it will take even longer to raise funds for a site if our own.

What do you mean re point 3 Diamon_Wolfe? This is a ridiculous comment. If course there can be atmosphere without using the 'C' word. Surely people are able to string a few sentences together without resorting to 'f'ing etc all over the place. I will reiterate I am not a prude but I pay my money & I am entitled to watch a game without feeling embarrassed for the club at the impression we are giving to visiting teams etc. Again if "happy clappy" people want to come and bring their families to watch a local football match , which is their right, then surely it's better for people to be putting money into our club's coffers than Wellingborough's , Whitworth's or any other local club!

The point I was making that to expect people not to swear at a football match is ridiculous. I think everyone is in agreement that using the C Word excessively is not needed. When I was a kid I used to love the taking in the atmosphere which much of the time included swearing however It doesn't mean that i walk down the street effing and jeefing at every opportunity. I've been to most football grounds in the country and heard similar and worse on many occasions. Does it make it right? No it doesn't. Is it the way it has always been and always will be? Yes.
