Agreed, not good at all. Feel for all of those that witnessed it, it must be awful, particularly for those that knew him personally.
We're due to face Shaw Lane at the Dog & Duck a week on Saturday.

I echo the sentiments of Pigman and Barton Raz, which I know we will all share.
Having survived a similar incident, albeit not on a football pitch, and having friends of mine lose a son in similar circumstances I really do think that the time has come for the FA to provide a defibrillator at every ground in the country. Even if it saves one life the cost will be worth it.

It wouldn't surprise me if their next 3-4 matches are postponed, to give them time to lay Daniel to rest and get their heads sorted!
Whilst I accept its a whole different scenario, it does bring back memories of poor Dale and the effect that his passing had on our players, management and fans at the time!

I agree, the game is awash with money, put some of it to good effect !!SouthRushdenJFC wrote:I echo the sentiments of Pigman and Barton Raz, which I know we will all share.

If our game with them does go ahead, we should do something to pay respect. Something like holding donations for a charity of the club's choice and a minute of clapping at a certain time?

Re: Tragic news !!
I recently asked the question whether we have a defib available at the D & D. Thankfully the answer was yes we do.
very sad news for all at Shaw Lane and his family. Our sympathy and prayers are with them all.

A great and noble cause, however this petition is to get all football clubs to have a defib - it's a shame it's not to force the FA to fund the provision of what is an expensive bit of kit that is beyond the pockets of many football clubs.Formic wrote:Petition regarding provision of defibrillators -

I get the argument of "what price a life" but if a club is struggling to get by, if they were forced to provide a defib many would struggle to do so, or go under!
Come on FA - step up to the plate !! That's what the petition should be for IMO !

Sited and used properly they could be used for the benefit of the whole community.
Jim is right it should be down to the FA or Sky Sports or the Premier League to provide, they can find £5 billion so I'm sure they can also find enough to fund this.
But clubs have a responsibility too to get all their young players checked out CRY have a mobile screening programme, a lot of which are held at football clubs.
