Re: first team update
According to Jon Dunham, the Jake Newman rumour is now more than a rumour. He's shaken hands with Peaksy over a deal for next season.

Re: first team update
I've just seen on Stamford's forum that they've signed Delroy Gordon.

Re: first team update
What do people think about Newman? Obviously he tore up UCL1, but relied on his sheer pace rather than any excessive technical ability in doing so. Not sure how he will take to this level and whether this is a good signing or not.

Re: first team update
Well he scored goals at Step 3 level last season in a struggling side. It was four years ago when he played in the UCL Division 1 and he's clearly developed as an all round player since then after initial difficulties playing for K*ttering in 2013/14. His goal tally since then speaks for itself and I expect him to do well for us as he's very mobile and will pressurise defences alongside Tom Lorraine.Oundle Diamond #2 wrote:Not sure how he will take to this level and whether this is a good signing or not.

Re: first team update
He's improved a lot, which says a lot for the lad considering he stalled at K*ttering. Jake will benefit from decent coaching, and as Trek said scored regularly at Step 3 last season.Oundle Diamond #2 wrote:What do people think about Newman? I give it until the middle of September before you say he's rubbish

Re: first team update
Not sure what to make of Newman's return. Obviously he didn't leave on a particularly good note, when he signed for K*ttering, and I'm glad he failed miserably there if I'm brutally honest.
Having said that he then had to have a taste of humble pie, joining Wellingborough after it didn't work at the Ploppies. He appears to have knuckled down and improved greatly. His goal scoring record since has been very good everywhere he has been. To drop back down to the UCL and rebuild his reputation to earn a move back up the pyramid has to be applauded.
I think it'll take a while for fans to warm to him again, but if he starts banging in the goals, then I'm sure his previous parting shots will be forgotten. It's a brave move on his part to come back and "face the music" as it were.

Well his goals per chance ratio in UCL1 was bang average, for every shot that went in there were four high and wide, but will be interesting to see how he fares four years on. Hopefully very well!
You won't get a peep out of me as I won't be able to make any games this year with the division move and my family also moving away from the area, unless of course we play a FAQ4, play-off or big title decider. There wouldn't be many football fans who would turf out three figures to go and watch Gresley.

Funny you should mention them. The Leicester Nirvana's management team have just taken over at Gresley and there is every likelihood that many of Nirvana's squad will join them. They will be a challenge, I reckon, playing an attacking style of football.Oundle Diamond #2 wrote: There wouldn't be many football fans who would turf out three figures to go and watch Gresley.
