I simply used a metaphor, which as one online football dictionary puts it "A football (soccer) play with physical presence but little ball control, passing or shooting ability. A donkey typically "hoofs" the ball." That pretty much conveys my point perfectly, in one word rather than twenty.

He's a Jon Obi Mikel, a Marouane Fellaini, or if you want to go more along the RDFC history books a Dave Savage, or a Shane Huke when played in midfield. I personally don't enjoy watching these players as much as technicians and box-to-box central midfielders.

I stand by the fact that technically he is a donkey compared to some players we've had on our books. Do you seriously think he's a gifted technical footballer? He's effective but not a lot else in my eyes. Football is a game of opinions...and so are forums.
FFS if your going to re-quote yourself at least use some facts you made the comment so either defend or retract, more wriggling going on here than a large lob worm on a size 8 hook.
Uxbridge thread on Sunday 20th March at 10.11am I quote "I will have to re evaluate all I have learnt over the last 20 years of playing and watching football, always thought Harris was a donkey every time I saw him" High praise indeed.
some 15 days later, Leighton thread Monday 4th April 2.52pm reference is made to the John Obi Mikel and Marouane Fellaini likeness, without wishing to sound insulting as that is not my intention, was the 15 day delay because
A) it took you that long to summon up all you know about football to proceed with the U turn operation or
B) the original shovel you were digging that big hole with was worn out and to returned to the surface to get a new one, cause heaven forbid you would ever consider the option of STOP DIGGING.
Not in anyone`s language could the term Donkey in any sport be anything other than insulting

I'll requote myself again - read what I said below that first quote :) context is everything. On the 15 day thing, someone probably brought it up again, as happened here. It seems like a perfectly ept metaphor and an "insult" are easily confusable.

Alas, we will probably win the play-offs with Brad doing his stuff in midfield. It won't be pretty, but of course in these games getting the win comes ahead of the spectacle for the lifelong fan ahead of the football purist. COYD.

I simply used a metaphor, which as one online football dictionary puts it "A football (soccer) play with physical presence but little ball control, passing or shooting ability. A donkey typically "hoofs" the ball." That pretty much conveys my point perfectly, in one word rather than twenty.
It might convey your point, but it doesn't describe the Brad Harris I watched in around a hundred games for AFCR&D.

1 - Little ball control. Very rarely does Brad let the ball go away from him
2 - Little passing ability - you actually watch Brad, not the game, watch Brad and tell me how many times he gives the ball away in ninety minutes. I'll give you a clue, it's less than the fingers on one hand
3 - Little shooting ability - Brad's got a 100% record from what I can remember, 2 shots, 2 goals
4 - A donkey typically hoofs the ball - Unless under pressure in the defending third of the pitch Brad rarely plays the ball more than twenty yards, yes there are time when he will clear the ball, seem by some as hoof but that is a decision made on the position on the pitch, the time gone in the match and the score

I hope that given you a better insight into the role of the defensive midfielder in a semi-pro environment.

Interesting claims. Would love to see some Opta/ProZone analysis on that.

I wish OundleDiamond#2 would demonstrate his footballing ability compared to Brad's. He seems to hark on about when he plied his trade trade in the old Diamond's youth team. Perhaps he could show us his ability on the pitch in a Southern League Central game.

Then we can all have our eyes opened to what a "donkey" Brad Harris really has been over the last 150+ games and what would could have achieved if OD#2 was on the pitch instead. I'm sure we'll be chanting OD#2's name in no time and demanding Brad leave the club as he is such a horrendously bad player!

Brad would do better at CDM, I'm too small to do a job there. Also, considering I stopped playing competitively 7 years ago to concentrate on school I don't think that would go too well. It's fitting it finished at Nene Park lifting the League Cup trophy for a fantastic Thrapston Town U16 youth side though. Correct me if I'm wrong Brownie, but I think of our youth team, your son is now playing at the highest level? I know Jerry Nash was at Bedford for a bit but don't think that lasted too long.

Not 100% sure but I have a feeling your are indeed wrong, is your old mucker and son of one of the old Diamonds youth teams Managers (not that I`m implying your time at Diamonds was extended by that connection) Joe Curtis not at Stamford, where I assume he has taken up the position he held down at both Brackley and K*ttering of Unused Sub.
In answer to your question Dowlo, Brad would be better in all positions for the very plain and simple reason he`s better, oh so much better, love the reasoning that height would be OD2`s only draw back must remember to mention it to any players I know in that role who are under 6`0" and as for Peaksy as a center half, don`t even get me started on that. Please OD2 put the shovel down and lets talk about the Egham game.

Good shout on Joe, who, like Aaron King, sure would have gone even further in the professional game if he didn't have his injury whilst at Southampton.

Hopefully we can use tonights game to learn how to compete against the top teams away from home. I'd take a solid point.
