Nene Park...
Seems you can get in to Nene Park if you try hard enough.

Re: Nene Park...
This was quite a hard watch. To see it in this sorry state is a crying shame!
Just to see where I used to stand on the DeBanke (near the score board) and Block EA where I had a season ticket with my old man during football league days, brings a lot of the cracking memories. The last time I stepped foot inside, it was bathed in sunshine and we had just beaten Kiddy in the last minute of the last ever R&DFC home game (not that we knew that then).
So I, like I'm sure many others will always try and remember Nene Park on days like that rather than for what it is like now. I'm fortunate in so far as I live 100 odd miles away so I very rarely have to see it in it's current run down state.
However I would weirdly like to get a look round for myself though, just the once. I'm sure there's some old RDFC stuff that could be salvaged and put to use. Even if it's just the odd pendant, or item with the old badge printed on it. Failing that I wouldn't mind unscrewing my old season ticket seat and putting it to use as some garden furniture some how.
One thing this film does go to show is that the cost to bringing it back to a suitable standard to accommodate a football team or any sort of sporting activity would run into the 10s if not 100's of thousands of £s. Confirming that despite a lot of peoples hope that one day AFC R&D could return, it would be almost impossible, without major funding from an outside source. 1. To repair it and 2. To pay the cost of running it.
Although lets just say 1 day it will be knocked down, could the club take some of the old seats and other salvageable things to use either at the D&D or to include in the new ground? Hypothetical question of course, but I feel it would be a nice touch, should that day come later down the line.

IF we could get it for free, then absolutely I think we should explore that. If however we had to pay the tosspot running the place any money at all then it'd be a big fat no from me.Dowlo wrote: Although lets just say 1 day it will be knocked down, could the club take some of the old seats and other salvageable things to use either at the D&D or to include in the new ground? Oh yeah 100%. If that see you next Tuesday wanted payment for any of it, then of course we would tell him to go forth and multiply! If he didn't benefit then it would be a no brainer to try and get some seats etc to bring the best from what would be a very sad end to a great stadium.BartonRaz wrote:

I dunno, it's in a better condition than Kings Langley's ground!Dowlo wrote:One thing this film does go to show is that the cost to bringing it back to a suitable standard to accommodate a football team or any sort of sporting activity would run into the 10s if not 100's of thousands of £s. Would be cheaper than building a new ground from scratch after securing the land though. However of course there is the question of paying the landlord which I'm sure no-one would want to do unless he comes over all charitable..Dowlo wrote:
