After waking up on Sunday morning to see another frustrating result against one of the top teams, I thought I'd take a look and see how the top 5 have fared against each other.
Assuming the results on the Southern League website are correct, below is the table of the top 5 teams from the games they have played against each other - doesn't make for good reading:

Re: Top 5
It's our achilles heel for sure. The only two exceptions IIRC was Sileby (A) in our first season and Spalding (A) in our second.
You could perhaps make a case for Thurnby (H) last season although I don't think you could ever seriously consider them as title challengers.

They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

That's good news, that means that Egham fixture list will build up even further.BartonRaz wrote:Egham V Royston tonight is OFF.
Lets bounce back, and go to Potters Bar on Saturday and bag the 3 points.

That's a shame I was hoping for them both to drop 2 points.BartonRaz wrote:Egham V Royston tonight is OFF.
I am bored. Beloved gone to yoga. No Diamonds to watch or any relevant matches being played for me to follow on twitter. (Aylesbury lead 1-0 Potters Bar losing 0-2)
Nothing worth watching on telly. I think some rubbish team from North London are playing in the Jokers League on the channel nobody wants.
Roll on Saturday.
Potters Bar came from 0-3 to draw 3-3-

Re: Top 5
I think the main reason why we have historically struggled against rivals in the top five is these teams usually give an extra 5-10% extra effort when playing against us, particularly at the Dog & Duck, where they are being watched by a crowd probably 5-6 times larger than their normal home crowd. It's their 'Cup Final'. Possibly our two best performances were away from home against Sileby and Spalding were where the home team were probably favourites to win and our lads were 'up for it' more and roared on by our usual terrific away support.
