The constant postponement of midweek matches at this time of year vindicates my assertion that games should not be scheduled for midweek during January (except some Cup ties/replays).

St Ives won 1-0

Another win for St Ives, they just keep grinding them out with the combination of ex Huntingdon and Kempston Rovers players, last nights scorer was Drew Phillips Ex Histon, Cambridge City, Bedford & Rovers as well as a few others, that`s 4 Ex Rovers there now 5 if you include Scotty but apart from 70 mins the 1st week he signed for them I don`t think he`s played any part in a game since.

I noticed that also. He started the game immediately after he signed but hasn't been seen since.

Is that Drew Roberts ex Chesham, Arlesey and St Neots? If so he's a bloody good player. They have however lost one of their better players after last night's game as Peter Clarke has joined St Neots.

Sorry when you think of local players called Drew tend to think of Roberts only I also wrote that. It's Drew Phillips who has done a few Clubs and though good not quite Drew Roberts. Phillips missed a year or 2 a few years back after a couple of leg breaks after which he played at Rovers, nice lad & decent player though for obvious reasons sometimes shy's away from a challenge.

In our division NGU have played the least number of matches (21) but still have 14 weeks to complete those fixtures.

None if us like to be watching matches on cold evenings in January and February. However, our Club's hands are tied and Southern League rules insist that a fixture must be re-arranged to be played within 40 days of the date on which the game was postponed.
However, I remember watching a match on a very wet and cold evening at the Rockinghorse, after the clocks had changed at the back end of March and therefore there is no guarantee we will get better weather later in the season.

Yes we are having a very mild winter and clubs are able to play the majority of their games, but that is not always the case. I can remember some winters when non-league sides have been unable to play at all for a couple of months. I believe a few years back one club (Isthmian League?) had a huge number of games to play in April, including 3 on the final day of the season (although at least one went unplayed as neither side were involved in promotion/relegation issues).

The Southern League are right. You're wrong!

I am old enough to remember 1962-63 when we had virtually no football from Boxing Day to end of March.
I realize that the club have no option but to re-arrange games within 40 days of original date, so no criticism there.
All I say is that what is the point of scheduling midweek games in late December/January when in all likelihood the games will just be cancelled again eg St Ives.
