New Signing....

Post by BartonRaz »

According to Jon Dunham we've signed Tom Liversedge - ex Cogenhoe & Bedford striker who started the season with Rugby Town, scoring twice in 5 games.

He scored 18 goals for Bedford last season in this division.

Can only assume this will mean the end off Lawless, or has he been brought in as an addition. Seems a strange one. Is he likely to get in ahead of Lorraine, Joseph and Berwick?

I'll echo that sentiment. Would have thought our priority is a replacement for Jack Ashton in central defence because if we get an injury to Liam or Delroy then we have problems as we saw against Basford.

Liversedge is a big, tall, striker, in a similar mould to Lorraine. He was at Wellingborough a few years back and had a good strike rate for them I believe, and obviously had a decent season in front of goal for Bedford last year. He did play against us at least once for Cogenhoe, but didn't really impress IIRC.

He was also there on Saturday or didn`t anyone notice, watched the game with Jacko and ELJ. Would have also played against us for Bedford I would think as well as Cogenhoe.

I recall your 'swinging elbows' comment from last season and I had this mental picture of Drewe Broughton.

Now confirmed on OWS - http://www.afcdiamonds.com/new-signing-tom-liversedge

Looks like he wasn't getting in the Belper Town team since new management took over. Hadn't been involved in the first two games since the new boss took over.

Scott Joseph limped off last night so we may be grateful for some additional firepower, especially as we have struggled for goals.

Last night was first time I have seen Lawless and thought he looked quite good. Very strong and direct.

Is Tom Livesidge cup tied?

Strange one, we needed more natural wide players than we do strikers. We started with two strikers in the wings on Saturday. Especially, with Claudio's knee problem. We're blessed with Quiche, Tommy, scott and Courtney as they all bring something different to the fold. And whilst i agree with many that the jury is most definitely out with Dom, he hasn't had much of a chance and looked ok last night. Someone like Matty Gearing would be more beneficial IMO. If Jacko's injury isn't too bad I think we're pretty solid at the back!

But apparently Jack's injury is bad. In which case we urgently need another defender.
