Hereford

Post by BartonRaz »

Has anybody else noticed that Hereford are making a right pig's ear of their debut season at Step 5?

They lost again last night at home to Coleshill in front of over 2,700, so they've now lost as many league games this season as we did last season in its entirety (3), and have conceded 13 in their 5 games too. Strange!

I wonder how long their fans will stick with them? They had over 4000 for one match. Their expectations are so much greater than ours.

The latest chapter in the Hereford story looks like being another messy one. Rather than form a fan-owned community club similar to ours they allowed outside investors to get involved and there are already all kinds of arguments going on between the board, the fans and various fans groups.

There's a 23 page discussion on their new forum about issues with their supporters trust - http://saveedgarstreetforum.proboards.c ... -hold-hust. Their old forum has closed down after too much infighting.

Reading some of the other threads thet just seem to have carried on where the last club left off. They need to understand what they want to be as a club, already some are digging at their squad and players without knowing what level of football they are trying to compete at. They are expecting to football their way out of the league, it doesn't work that way as we found out.

Comedy Twitter account here: https://twitter.com/HUFCBanter

They drew 0-0 away at Westfields today. Westfields play a matter of yards from Edgar Street and there were over 1800 there. Not sure why i'm finding this so fascinating but I can't be the only one?!

Kind of makes a mockery of the 'Forever United' in their badge.

But wow, the 'we should be pissing this tinpot league' stuff, rumours of players being paid £1k per game, calls for the manager to go, calls for even the board to go, something's clearly not quite right there, a far cry from the positivity surrounding us when we first started in the UCL, obviously we were all a bit shocked at the draw with Wootton Blue Cross early on, but most of us at that point were just grateful we had a senior team to watch again and I certainly don't recall much 'we should piss this tinpot league' arrogant stuff either.

It's a right hoot on their forum isn't it? They should just be thankful they got place in Step 5 not Step 6! Saying that I think being placed in UCL 1 actually did us a favour - gave us a decent first season to establish the club while being competitive at the same time. I'm not sure we would have done that well in the UCL Prem in our first season if that's where we were placed.

Seems like they've massively turned it around - now on 17 wins in a row.
