[ Tues 11th Aug ] v St Ives Town, KO 7:45pm SLD1C AWAY

I thought the ref was possibly one of the worst we've ever had. He was so incompetent he couldn't even manage to count out the correct number of steps to take to mark out where the defensive wall should stand for free kicks!!! He went from 7 steps for us to 12 for them!!! Unbelievable Jeff!!!

The ref was one we'd had in the UCL before - although in those three games the aggregate score has been 14-3 to us, so I don't think he has anything against us, he just had a very poor evening. Perhaps he has just stepped up to the new level like we have and as a result feels he needs to keep blowing his whistle at every opportunity, and showing yellow cards for innocuous tackles (both Brad and their sub were very unfairly booked IMO).

I know you've got a habit for controversial comments, but I didn't think Herbert was poor at all.Oundle Diamond #2 wrote:Not sure who was worse today, the ref or Herbert. Hoban must start from now on in his place.

Yeah, I didn't think Herbert was that bad either and he did get the assist for the first goal didn't he, he could do with improving for sure, but he wasn't awful. Having said that, based on his 2 impressive sub appearances so far, I do think there is a case for starting Hoban ahead of him nevertheless, Hoban looks like quite a player and defenders were struggling with him running at them.

I think Herbert looks a class act. He challenges back and is ready to run at the defence. Neither he nor Spriggs has really had the chance to show us their complete repertoire with the style of play we are favouring at the moment.

Two draws and we are back out to 4/1 in the betting markets. Still favourites!

Who would you rather start? A player who in 10 minutes went on 3 mazy runs and created openings, or a player who failed to make dangerous runs, lost the ball a lot and missed an open goal from 2 yards out? I hope Hoban starts on the left on Saturday. Hardly "controversial".BartonRaz wrote:I know you've got a habit for controversial comments, but I didn't think Herbert was poor at all.Oundle Diamond #2 wrote:Not sure who was worse today, the ref or Herbert. This is a key point, there was a worrying tendency for hoof ball yesterday. I assume it's the players struggling to adapt to the new system/teammates. Hope it doesn't last.Formic wrote:I think Herbert looks a class act. He challenges back and is ready to run at the defence. Well i have been thoroughly delighted with he start i think we have been by far the better team in both matches and as soon as we start to gel together it bodes well for the future.
