Where was the rest of the team today, seemed to be missing quite a few players.

No Bunting, Quigley, Brown, Merrill, Kilbride or Spriggs, so perhaps unsurprising that we were chasing shadows for 60 minutes. Rarely, if ever, have I seen an AFC R&D team look as second best as we did in the first half. That said, we were good defensively as usual. We seemed to get much more into the game when Herbert and May were introduced and Lorraine was moved up front. Berwick and Lawless before them barely had a kick.
Would like to see more of Harry May and Delroy Gordon. May has always looked useful when I've seen him play for Corby, and Gordon would undoubtedly be an asset given his experience, albeit I'm not sure it's an area we need to strengthen.

We are likely to suffer a with not having a full selection of players on several occasions due to other commitments on match days, especially midweek and with further travelling to away matches. There will also be holidays to account for, which would be a good reason for absentees today. But, good to see a season long fixture list and no local league cup matches played on a Saturday because of floodlight issues. Are we ready for a roller coaster season ?

Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday, was great to see us play a team who played football and not a team who wanted to hurt you with every tackle.
I thought the ref was a step up in quality as well apart from the offside but that was the lino.
Good to see different players tried in different positions and going away without seeing much of the ball and almost getting a result maybe we need to get used to a bit.
Oh and Brad Harris was absolutely awesome yesterday.

I was sorry to have missed what sounds like a competitive match, were they a step up in quality on us? I've looked at their on-line match report and it sounded reasonably close? Many make the trip?

Hopefully I'll make it to Tuesday's match!

Enfield's first half team was a striker short of being a top drawer Step 3 side in my opinion. They would have finished 5th in the Ryman Premier had they not fielded an ineligible player last season, so that shows you what we were up against. For 60 minutes they seemed to knock the ball around us and always have men in acres of space. I thought it was really interesting in the first half watching how they played out from the back, and how vocal their goalkeeper was too. He seemed to be directing operations. I think a major plus for Peaksy is that a totally different sort of performance was required defensively than what we've been facing for the last 3 seasons but by and large we soaked up most of the pressure.Pigman wrote:I was sorry to have missed what sounds like a competitive match, were they a step up in quality on us? It was a good atmosphere amongst the away fans, singing throughout.

Kilbride tweeted that he was on his way to Ibiza yesterday, so he may be missing for the next few games
