Adam Confue departs

Post by paulg »

Has rejoined Daventry. Quote from Andy Peaks: "Unfortunately he lives in Daventry and they have offered something we can't match."

That's disappointing. He is a real midfield powerhouse and will be missed. Good luck Connie .

Very sad to hear that, he's a class act, and with Gearing leaving too, we've got 2 big players to replace.

Gutted doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about losing these two - I know players come and go, but I was really looking forward to seeing both ply their trade at Step 4 for us !!

Good luck guys !!

Confue replied to the article on the clubs Facebook page thanking the fans and saying because he is gutted he has had to leave but with his work family and kids etc that's why he's going. He did say how much he enjoyed last season and he'll always be a diamond fan

Perhaps the "they've offered something we can't match" relates to a guaranteed start every week. With Bunting, Quigley, Harris and (previously) Confue vying for two spots he was by no means guaranteed a start.

Confue was great in the first half of last season especially and will be missed.

Spot on. He was certainly the influential central midfielder before Christmas but over the last couple of months of the season it was Bunting who imposed his style on the team's excellent finish to the season. As soon as the news broke that we had signed Dan Quigley, and bearing in mind that he had won a league title at Step 4 in partnership with Bunting, I expected these two to continue as the two prime midfielders in the starting lineup although Brad Harris may feel that he will have a say in the matter. The problem Peaksie will have is keeping everyone happy particularly if he signs another central midfielder.
