There's the Youth Cup Draw too, away to Cogenhoe in the Preliminary Round and then if we get through that away to Yaxley or Brackley.

Basford again though! That will be a tough test if they've retained their team from last season, they did very well in their league last season I recall. King's Langley is a little boring as a team from our league and obviously we would have preferred a draw against a step 5 team at this stage, but not the worst of draws. Good to get 2 home draws in the Trophy though :)

These are both tough draws IMO. Both Basford and King's Langley won Step 5 leagues last season, so I don't think they'll be much worse than us, if they are at all!

Basford are throwing the £££ around aren't they?

Wonder how many players Basford still have left from the previous visit on November 17th 2012??, remember that one for the great battle of the Old Pro`s, Hopey V Martin Curruthers, oh and of course Gilly`s goal!!

Kings Langley are very well funded too apparently. No fans but plenty of dosh. Hard to see what could be much worse than playing them away.

Just looked their average attendances from last season up. Basford 88, KL 55
This for sides that won their respective leagues
Yet they both spend a fortune on players.

I was on the pitch at Kings Langley a couple of weeks ago and I hope they've done some work on it since.

I was a bit like a field, very uneven and bumpy.

Who else remembers when R&D played Grantham? An absolute classic - 5-4 if I remember correctly?

I remember it well. It was my favourite game ever in terms of entertainment until we beat Grays by the same scoreline in the Conference play-off season. It was sadly the game that effectively ended Michael McElhatton's career with us though; having come through the Conference league cup win against Stevenage in one piece the previous Tuesday (and scoring in the process), he scored twice against Grantham before injuring his knee again, and I don't think he ever fully recovered from that. :(

Wonder what Michael McElhatton's doing these days?? He's still my favourite RDFC/AFCRD player of all time!! Such a shame his career was cut short by injury :( :(
