I did tell a few of you that last season after I had a long chat with a Spalding resident, the land the ground is on is supposed to be for use of the Town and some of the basis thinks they have done, barriers, fencing ect is not within the terms of the lease I was led to believe. The are some Spalding folk, and to be fair if the number is greater than 50 it`s higher than the number who would support the Clubs actions, who would be happy to see them levered out and the area returned to it`s designated use. Still in the words of many of us on here WGAF.Trek wrote:Interesting post from a Tulips follower on Non-League Matters Forum:-

@Voice_Nigel: BREAKING NEWS on @spaldingunited manager Pat Rayment resignation.
"Proud of achievements in 3 years, but can't go on with club as it is"
Very strange as just a couple of days ago he was saying that The Tulips were one of three teams with a good chance of winning the League title.

So then, Fat Payment has gone - wonder what job he's got lined up for himself next!! I'm fairly sure he wouldn't have jumped had he not got an iron in the fire somewhere.

" cant go on with club as it is" probably means his partner is no longer prepared to financially indulge his fantasy.Trek wrote:@Voice_Nigel: BREAKING NEWS on @spaldingunited manager Pat Rayment resignation.

Has the spending beyond their means caught up with them? Might result in some of their former Holbeach players trudging back to the Tigers

Re: Spalding
Two directors have resigned, now I know they have got ground grading when they were last at Step 4 but with 31st March approaching I wonder if this is part of the problem.
Also they've never built their fan base so is Step 4 too high for them financially?

Re: Spalding
Is this another dig at AFC.
Not sure how many years Holbeach have been in the UCL but this is only our second season in the UCL Prem .................!!
"Quote" Meanwhile, Holbeach United co-manager John Chand has paid tribute to the effect his rival has had at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
“He’s taken Spalding out of the UCL – and as King’s Lynn and Rushden have found that’s not simple – and established them as a side challenging for promotion in the league above,” said Chand.

Re: Spalding
All's well at Spalding, the local council have agreed expenditure of £18,200 to refurbish the main entrance gates.

Some wag on twitter said this work should have been carried out earlier ' to stop Rayment slipping away'.
