Hereford United - no more

Post by Formic »

After a long and protracted saga, the Bulls have been wound up - http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/11679 ... w_it_here/

They have a solid fan base who are committed to reforming the club safe from the clutches of Property Developers.

My abiding memory of the Bulls is watching them beat Yeovil at the Huish in 2001.

My memory is when I followed Hastings Utd, must be more than 40 yrs ago. John Charles was their manager and they beat us 6-1...a long way for nothing!!!

Interesting report which states that Hereford United are the first senior side wound up since Scarborough in 2007. Begs the question were RDFC ever formally wound up? Now we know that they were placed into administration in 2011 with no hope of continuing but have they been subsequently wound up?

I believe RDFC was formally wound up several months ago or it might have been towards the end of last year I can't quite remember, I think there was something about it on here.

Mention for us here. 'Fans are not willing to abandon their beloved hometown club'.

Good luck to them. Presumably they'll have to start at the same level we did?

They're expecting to start at Step 5. Not quite the 'one fan one vote' set up that I was expecting.

They seem very reluctant to go it alone. Perhaps it illustrates how forward-thinking the guys that pushed things forward with AFC R&D were - and the strength of their commitment.

It seems that Hereford have been on one express train that has hit the buffers and now they are anxious to get on another, rather than starting slowly and within their means as a fan owned club. Perhaps these new business people who are taking over do have the best interests of the club at heart, but when monies get tight they will make business decisions to sell out to other business people with less scruples - as has happened so many times.

They already look badly divided as a result of this decision, with those who don't want to see a repeat being castigated for not trusting the new investors who seemed to be planning this approach for a good while, based on the original club folding.
