This part troubles me. Was it not a few seasons ago that Buckby decided to build a team with the sole aim of winning the UCL? There was no intention to progress and it was purely a hunt for pots.

In this respect you can't compare them to Cogenhoe, Thrapston or Yaxley who have invested in the facilities and still compete on an even keel.
Fair comment. I think the problem with Buckby is they can't afford to invest in the club. Their chairman supports as best he can but he cannot afford to throw his money at Buckby. They were ambitious a couple of seasons back but what with internal rows and points dedcutions etc it all collapsed. A new manager has been brought in but is learning the ropes still. His new assistant is ex- Cov City (hardly a glowing indictment), but he cannot attract the 'men' needed in the team.

Had a long chat with one of the "never leave the Clubhouse anymore" gang on Sat who explained 2011-12 season. Justification for chucking lots of money at a one season one hit wonder was, for people like him who had been involved since the 80s and never seen the Club win anything it was some form of reward for them, even explained how money was diverted via "work" from businesses & individuals and informed me which player, without them knowing he was chucking money at. Needless to say now he doesn`t even bother walking the 100 yards and paying his £6/£3 to watch anymore just dribbles on about the past and even worse moans how S*it the present team is. So for all of you who often wonder why some Clubs at this level do what they do some times, as far as LB are concerned it`s reward for perseverance and longevity.
I do think Woodford Dad you have missed the point a little, no one was asking or expecting a Club house or ground extension or major infrastructure changes just because we were visiting. However for many of the less well supported teams on a small budget a visit from AFCR&D can go a long way to covering ongoing costs, last time I looked politeness was still free, people may not like us but at least have the common courtesy to use a small amount of manners when taking our money. I would think Dowlo`s estimate of £200 over the bar was a gross under estimate and could have been more if the welcome had been a little more friendly. Not sure why the over dressed egg chasing gent was even there other than to be blatantly rude as many times as he could, if for what ever reason he couldn`t get to "Twikkers" as they refer to it, then if he dislikes football and all associated with it that much why not stay in the bloody Rugby Clubhouse and watch 30 blokes chucking an egg about and assaulting each other, many of the others in the Clubhouse just glared at us as if a f*in space ship had just landed, and don`t get me started on the dour faced person selling hot food at the ground, if I hadn`t been so hungry I may well have suggested somewhere to place his badly burnt over prices sausage roll.
Most of the Clubs we have visited during past 3 seasons have been 1, friendly, 2, welcoming 3, done very nicely out of us financially, sadly LB registered 8/10 on the latter and failed to move the clapometer on either of the first 2. with the exception of the small bloke behind the bar who was pleasant.

Can't argue with any of that Brownie. All understandable and undoubtably accurate.

Spot on. That Rugby supporter was even more of a tw*t than myself. If you hate football so much just p*ss off. He was an A grade pr*ck! A bitter twisted "Ruggers" fan who will always be annoyed that the sport he loves so much will always be sh*tter than football, but feels the need to try and convince himself and others around him that it's not.

Sounds like I dodged a bullet by missing it, I just had to endure Adam and Ralph's discussions about chocolate eclairs on Radio Diamonds  ;) (just joking, the commentary was excellent :) ).

Looking forward to seeing Dolman's goal on the video!!

Looking at the UCL website for the match stats here: http://full-time.thefa.com/DisplayFixtu ... d=13687083, Buckby have one guy suspended sine die, and one guy suspended until March 2019! Anyone any ideas why?

Not sure but one of them possible the 5 year could be the assault on Jake (right foot) Newman last season the timing is about right.

Yes- the 5-year ban is for the 'attack' on Jake Newman. Lost his way- was at Cobblers for 5 years. Can't see him playing again.
The other one never responded to FA charges whilst playing Sunday football.
