Ah Taylor and Newman in tandem! Wasn't there conflict between the pair after Alfie returned from his shoulder injury. Didn't he say he preferred to play with his 'best mate/man' Dev Ellwood?FOOTYMAN wrote:Yep. Back at the D&D. But, not for us. :(

In all honesty, lovely fellows as both Jake and Alfie are, would you take them over Dunkley, Turner, Lorraine, Joseph and Fazel?

Re: Alfie Taylor
I don't think there was any conflict between them as such, they just didn't play well alongside one another. Alfie understandably preferred playing alongside Dev, because they had a great understanding and Dev would do the unselfish donkey work, so to speak, providing Alfie with the goalscoring chances. Alfie and Jake were both selfish in and around the box, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but tends not to work if both your front two are like that.Trek wrote:Ah Taylor and Newman in tandem! I certainly wouldn't take Jake over any of our current crop of strikers, but I'd take a happy Alfie ahead of Koriya and Joseph (at the moment, although I think Scott has more potential), and maybe Lorraine although they are very different players. An unhappy Alfie wouldn't get anywhere near any of them though, and unfortunately if things aren't going his way, he gets the sulks and his performances drop.

I wouldn't take Alfie over Dunkley or Turner, but I'd take him in good form over Lorraine or Joesph, not sure who'd I'd have between him and Faz. I'd take any of them over Jake.SouthRushdenJFC wrote:In all honesty, lovely fellows as both Jake and Alfie are, would you take them over Dunkley, Turner, Lorraine, Joseph and Fazel?
Boxing Day should be good then, at least those 2 should make it a half decent contest maybe!

Ever talk or pass to each other, sure they have both got over what ever was the problem by now, if it was ever more than just wanting to score more goals than the other. Wouldn`t comment on either of them over who we have now, as to be fair we ain`t doing to bad with what we have and the rest is history, any chance of Dev hopping over the fence and Wizz, Hopey and DG making the short trip from Thrapo, Welly would then have the makings of a decent side.davealbon wrote: I don't think there was any conflict between them as such, they just didn't

Alfie could do us some favours by scoring goals against Holbeach on 31st Jan.Trek wrote:Alfie has signed for Cogenhoe.
