Re: [ Sat 8th Nov ] v Wisbech Town, KO 3pm UCLP AWAY
Well put Dowlo my thoughts exactly pretty much.
Brilliant display with 11 men, brilliant with 10 and 9, and just incredible with 8! To not concede a goal with 8 men for about 25+ mins is ridiculous! Shouldn't really single people out but Finley, Ashton and Confue were unbelievable.
The referee was utter garbage, but not helped by two assistants I have to assume are blind. A disgraceful performance by all 3 of them. However for all of the Ref's faults, and there were many, fair play to him for not abandoning the game, something I thought looked a likely scenario at HT. Also Wisbech deserve a bit of credit for not pestering the ref to abandon it.
My view of the red cards (which if my view of Brackley's first goal is anything to go by probably aren't worth reading):
1st - Looked harsh to send Bunts off but a little reckless. Player of his experience should know better than to dive in like that.
2nd - Seemed to be an insanely bad decision by the referee.
3rd - Mindless and thoughtless for Dunks to do what he did given he was on a yellow. Left the ref with no choice and left his teammates in a pickle too if they weren't already.
Regardless of the red cards, the passion and determination shown by those that remained and the atmosphere in the terrace at the end brought back memories of days gone by. The game will live long in the memory i'm sure. I think i'm still drying out actually.

It looks like all three will miss the Vase http://www.northamptonshirefa.com/clubs/discipline

Amidst all the chaos of the rain and the sendings off, I had completely forgotten the foul on Dunks in the box that was given a freekick, I admit I didn't have the best view being behind the goal and not on the side, but my initial reaction was it was inside the box, yet another horrendous decision, good god what a mess, he did give a few bookings on the other side as well, but needless to say just about every big decision went against us.

Am I right in thinking Bunting's will be a 3 match ban, but Brown will only get 1 as it was last man? Dunkley will obviously only be 1.Formic wrote:It looks like all three will miss the Vase http://www.northamptonshirefa.com/clubs/discipline

The ref seemed to start out OK, dishing out reasonable yellow cards to Wisbech's 4 and 6, but he then seemed to be swayed by the home crowd, whose support for their team seemed restricted to appealing for various cards.
He was the ref at our game at Harborough at the start of the season, and I remember him and Bunting having an exchange of views in that game.
Once again our management team made the right calls. I was worried when they left Fazel on for the second half after his yellow card and the poor conditions, but his goal proved his worth in the second period.

That's the way I'd read it. in our first two season we only had three red cards in each season of around 45 games - yet had three in one game today.BartonRaz wrote:Am I right in thinking Bunting's will be a 3 match ban, but Brown will only get 1 as it was last man?
