Squad for 14/15 season

Post by RiK2006 »

Anyone know of any player movements?

Are we keeping all of the strikers or could we see Dunks and Alfie move on?

Anyone officially signed on for next season?

As far as I'm aware no one can officially sign on until July 1st, unless they are on a contract. As there are hardly any players on contracts at UCL clubs, most of the so called "signings" at other sides are nothing of the sort and the players they mention may well go somewhere else for a fiver more come July.

Yes it seems that Alfie is unlikely to be back, leaving his goal tally for us at a neat 50, I believe?

I think on the back of this we really need to pull out all the stops to keep Dunks - he offers us so much leverage in causing defences problems & I don't think anyone plays the target man role more effectively than him at Step 5. We really missed his presence when he was injured last season.

Ashton looked an authoritative figure at the back too during the final few games of last season; think he could serve us well for a full season.

Hopefully the fact that Dunks is a former team-mate of Paul Lamb will increase the chance he'll be back next season.

Bitterly disappointed about what's unfolded with Alfie and like the vast majority of supporters i'm scratching my head a bit on that one.

It'll be interesting to see who comes in given Peaksy said he'd be going to some play-off games. I think we need to do all we can to sign Ashton and Henderson permanently, get another utility defender in, a striker and a winger.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

If what is being said on the social network site that can't be spoken about is true. Then the way the whole Alfie Taylor situation has been dealt with sounds like a right shambles. No way to treat a player who scored 50 goals for the club including our first ever league goal and a last minute winner against Cambridge City. He was also one of the few players to publicly apologise for the poor showing against St Andrews.

I'm very disappointed with the Alfie situation too. I won't go accusing anyone or anything without knowing the full story, but I'm sad to see the fan's favourite and our top goalscorer leaving unhappy.

As for the squad, it will be interesting to see, I feel we have several players that I don't think are good enough to take the club forward, like Ling and Koriya for example, and then there's several players that I just think are too good to be in the UCL, like Dunks, Bunting, Gearing and Ashton, cause its pretty clear they could play at SL Premier level if they wanted. I assume Gearing will stay, but not sure about the others. Would be delighted to see any of those 4 back in a Diamonds' shirt again next season.

I imagine that Alfie hasn't been the perfect gentleman over the last 12 months. You don't treat your top scorer like that if he's done nothing wrong? I imagine he was one of the 'bad vibes' Starms referred to when leaving. Peaks seems like a nice guy so if he doesn't want Taylor there then we have to trust that.

Surely used correctly Koriya is potentially one of our better players?

Can see Dunkley leaving, I know he was injured towards the end of last season but we were very quick to get a couple more striking options in. Hopefully he'll stay.
