I feel sorry for Westfields - from Hereford - who've got to travel to Morpeth - I can't see either team making money out of that one.Bob's Bitch wrote:I'm guessing Rushden-Morpeth is a shorter journey than Norwich-Morpeth?
I'm surprised that the draw was split 14-18, rather than half and half. We were even luckier not to have drawn an NL team!

I agree we need to guard against complacency and we must show them respect, but we should win this !! We're a good step 5 side ( how good we'll know after Saturday) and should be able to beat a step 6 side , no matter where they are in the table. yeah know, the magic of the cup, it's a funny old game, people raise their game against us etc - but we should progress and the players will kick themselves if they don't.
I feel a tad sorry for Kempston - they've now lost what would have been a lucrative Saturday game against us - and I've missed out on the chance of a few beers with some local mates !!

May be a free Sat later in the season to rearrange the Kempston game, if not take your local mates for a day out in North London on May 10th I'm sure they would prefer that.Pigman wrote:I feel a tad sorry for Kempston - they've now lost what would have been a lucrative Saturday game against us - and I've missed out on the chance of a few beers with some local mates !!

Re: Home to St Andrews in FA Vase
If it were up to me we would not be playing Kempston on 28th Dec. either!!
Why is ours the only UCL game that day? It is unreasonable to expect the players of both sides to play in the middle of what is supposed to be a holiday period.
The next thing you know the big stores will be opening at 5.am on Boxing Day!
Its not as though there is still a fixture backlog.I am sure Welly will be laughing.

Haven't you answered your own question there? It's a holiday period, so there's more chance of a big attendance, more than we'd get for a Saturday in February/March. Personally I'm happy that this game's scheduled, one more game that I can get to while I'm back in the country!sussexdiamond wrote:If it were up to me we would not be playing Kempston on 28th Dec. either!!

There's a full UCL Programme on Saturday 28th http://full-time.thefa.com/ListPublicFi ... =190054943sussexdiamond wrote:If it were up to me we would not be playing Kempston on 28th Dec. either!!

Wellingborough have the long trip to Sleaford....
It's our New Year's Day game that stands alone.
Re: Home to St Andrews in FA Vase
For the level of football we are at it doesn`t make for a great break for the players, Sat 21st OK, Boxing day avoid excess food and drink the day before, Sat 28th Jan 1st and 4th, 5 games in 15 days. Watching the Wrexham V Oxford game last night the comment was made one of them were playing the 25 game this season, only 6 behind us then and they are full time :!: :!:Formic wrote:There's a full UCL Programme on Saturday 28th http://full-time.thefa.com/ListPublicFi ... =190054943sussexdiamond wrote:If it were up to me we would not be playing Kempston on 28th Dec. either!!

Is the stand alone game on NYD down to the league, or the Clubs if nobody else is playing :?: as it will possibly maximize revenue. Now we have caught up, in fact played more games than Spalding & Huntingdon some of last years weather over Christmas may possibly provide the break the squad could probably do with.

Re: Home to St Andrews in FA Vase
My apologies for getting the day wrong. But I still think it is not necessary to play on that saturday.
The league could easily have kept that day blank to give players a break.
I am quite happy with playing a double/header on Boxing Day and New Years Day, as they are traditional match days. Although, playing at this level, I do still feel sorry for players and their families.

Indeed we should beat them, and would need to play better than we did against Prims to be sure of getting in the next round. We should raise our game.
