MIDLANDS REGION
15 Sutton Town (7)
16 Boston Town (5)
17 A.F.C. Rushden & Diamonds (6)
18 Spalding United (5)
19 Shirebrook Town (6) or Walsall Wood (6) (Replay required)
20 Southam United (6) or Long Eaton United (5) (Postponed)
21 A.F.C. Wulfrunians (6)
22 Causeway United (5)
23 Rocester (5)
24 Holbrook Sports (6)
25 Gornal Athletic (5)
26 Norton United (5)
27 Borrowash Victoria (6)
So looking at that then:

Sutton Utd are 3rd in Central Midlands Black Dragon Division South (Step 7)
Boston Town are 14th in UCL Premier (Step 5)
Spalding are 3rd in UCL Premier (Step 5)
Shirebrook are 10th in Northern Counties East League Division One (Step 6)
Walsall Wood are 1st in Midland Combination Premier Division (Step 6)
Southam are 12th in Midland Combination Premier Division (Step 6)
Long Eaton are 8th in Northern Counties East League Premier Division (Step 5)
AFC Wulfrunians are 6th in West Midlands League Premier Division (Step 6)
Causeway Utd are 20th in Midland Football Alliance Division One (Step 5)
Rocester are 11th in Midland Football Alliance Division One (Step 5)
Holbrook Sports are 14th in East Midlands Counties Premier Division (Step 6)
Gornal Athletic are 6th in Midland Football Alliance Premier (Step 5)
Norton United are 17th in the North West Counties League Premier (Step 5)
Borrowash Victoria are 4th in East Midlands Counties Premier Division (Step 6)

The teams to avoid look to be Spalding, Gornal, Walsall Wood and Long Eaton. Borrowash and Holbrook are in the same division as Basford, and Holbrook are below both Holwell Sports and Lutterworth so that would be a good draw.

What it does show is that despite the fact it's still regionalised, there's the opportunity for some fairly long trips. Long Eaton are in the same league as Scarborough Athletic, and Norton Utd are one place above AFC Liverpool.

Don't know where Norton is, but Long Eaton is next to the M1 at Nottm (on the Derbyshire side)

Because i'm a boring bastard - distances from the D&D (one way) in miles below. Furthest first:

Norton Utd – 107.0
Shirebrook – 95.0
Rochester – 89.8
Sutton Town – 84.9
Holbrook Sports – 79.8
Causeway Utd – 79.4
AFC Wulfrunians – 78.1
Gornal – 76.9
Walsall Wood – 71.0
Borrowash Victoria – 70.4
Long Eaton – 69.5
Boston Town – 66.6
Spalding – 51.1
Southam – 37.7

Norton Utd is very close to that hell-hole Burslem - Port Vale territory. One of the worst places i've ever been in the UK.

Long Eaton is interesting in bowls terms.
They are classed as Derbyshire for outdoors in the summer, but Nottinghamshire indoors during the winter months.
I thought you'd all like to know that ;)

Great work with your regions post DW :D

Just one small point though - you have 13 teams in your eastern region and 13 teams in your midlands region, so for the purposes of the draw presumably one team has to move regions.

Good spot!

Although, I'm pretty sure Fakenham would have been in the East region rather than Midlands, so they ust have done some moving prior to the 2nd round draw.
