Both fans and players need to put this behind them now - it has happened and won't change- and concentrate on the matches to come.

As you should with any bad result. I think the problem nowadays, with internet forums, fans try to saw sawdust rather than moving on. It's not healthy.

I know its done and dusted and it is time to forget and move on, but I think all referees should be made to face the press after the game and give their reasons for key decisions made in the game. If he's proven to be wrong by video evidence it should go against him on his assessors report - which I think should be made public anyway, I always have done. I'd love to know:

- why he gave the first penalty, I think it was for Louis stepping across the guy, but was it?
- why he decided the tackle on Tomlin wasn't a red card offence?
- why the push on O'Connor, which was more of an offence IMO than the two Oxford shouts wasn't given
- why he thought a player backing in, who clearly wasn't pulled, was a penalty and not a free kick for the defender?

Mr Creighton is clearly a man who cannot cope with pressure or big games. He was greatly influenced by the crowd and by Oxford's players and the assessors should consider whether or not he can be trusted with games of this magnitude - 7,300 Oxford fans gave that penalty that never was, just because he couldn't cope with the pressure they placed on him.

I'm still bitter about it, I'd also love to know if the Oxford substitute (Mark Creighton) is any relation? Its not a common name is it? I can see it now........."thanks dad!" ;)

Lets hope we don't get a clown against Mansfield, or more importantly against the scum eh?

I totally agree with that. I find it ridiculous that managers (or a representative from the management team) have to speak to the media after a game (certainly at higher levels, although I don't know if they still have to at our level), yet the person whose decisions have the biggest impact on the game is often forbidden from discussing incidents/decisions during the game with the media. :?

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

We will still have the same problem! The standard of refereeing is getting worse, and imo is something that needs to be urgently addressed. From what i remember, about 10 years ago, we would not have been having this conversation. It is easy for people to say that this is due to more video technology, which to an extent is true, but not when the problem goes as far down the leagues as BSP. So what is the answer? I just wish i knew the answer!
As do you (this week)
