UCL Division 1??

I can understand what everyone is saying, but i'd personally be a little disappointed if we had to start in Div One. Quality of our side won't be as good, and am I right in thinking there wont be any Tuesday night games as not all sides have floodlights? Not to mention the fact that there will be less games to go to.

If it's about the ground then fair enough, not a lot we can do about that, but if we're put in there because of previous problems - such as a few people spitting the dummy about King's Lynn being put straight in the Prem - then i'd be a little annoyed.

Other teams have reformed in Step 4 of Non-League such as Chester, Farsley, Halifax, and Ilkeston this season. Did the teams in their respective steps 5/6 get annoyed about that? I doubt it. People were annoyed about King's Lynn because they are a massive threat, same for us next season. I've read that thread on the UCL Facebook page and some of the stuff being written is a joke.

I'm not saying we've got a right to be accepted into the UCL Prem, far from it, just that I hope there is a valid reason for putting us in Div One and they're not just doing it because they're worried about the reaction of a few clubs. Seems odd to me that some people (like this guy from BPW) seem to think this is a certainty before we've even applied.

I'll probably get shot down for this but had to get it off my chest.

I don't think we agree on much BR, but I'm with you on these sentiments. No-one should be offended by our applying for the highest position possible, and as long as the process is fair, then I'll take whatever comes our way.

Being placed in UCL Prem would save us needing a promotion that might not happen for a season or two, and so would be a great start.

True, and while I won't get ahead of myself and think its ever going to be easy in whichever division we get put in, it does seem like the prem is extremely competitive at the top, Kings Lynn may be top at the moment and winning most games but if Long Buckby keep up their form (17 out of 18 wins), then Lynn may have to have another season missing out on promotion which would be tough on them considering they got 103 points last year and finished 2nd! And then the teams below them don't seem to bad either, it certainly wouldn't be an easy league to get out of.

No it seems for that level you need floodlights (Which is good, love floodlit games) as the requirements for UCL Div 1 Level (Grade G) mention floodlighting, 'Floodlights must be provided to an average lux reading of at least 120.....'

I think I read the other day that the UCL Div One is one of (if not the only) exception to that rule. Certainly ON Chenecks don't have floodlights and I don't think Burton Park Wanderers do either.

Found this on the UCL Wiki page....

Division One is at level 10 (step 6) in the football pyramid above four smaller local leagues at the base of the recognized NLS: the Northamptonshire Combination, Northampton Town League, Bedfordshire Football League, and Peterborough & District League. There are currently seventeen clubs in this division. It is one of the few step 6 divisions across the country that is not all-floodlit.

Also just found out that without floodlights you're not allowed in the FA Vase / FA Cup. Not that it makes any difference.

Ah right, that would explain why some teams like as you say ON Chenecks and Burton have had to start at 2pm rather than 3pm recently, but I notice there are still a couple of floodlit games but not many.

Would the individual from a groundless club that aim to come into the UCL next season and approached one of our substituted players to ask about playing 'for them next season when they're in the UCL' as he left the changing rooms at Wellingborough Town please contact me so that I can discuss with them further. Unfortunately the clubs website doesn't offer contact details.

Also, i doubt that will impact whatsoever on our application.

Well it now does now look like step 5 will lose 2 divisions and the UCL teams being split between other Leagues, so i would think other UCL Chairmen should be worried about where they will end up either the Ridgeons or Molten Spartan and not worry about what happens to our application.

What's your reason for suspecting that the UCL will be abolished? All the speculation I have seen regarding the 12 division step 5 proposal, is that the Essex Senior will be abolished and Kent/Sussex/Combined Counties merged into 2 leagues.This would obviously have the knock-on effect that the UCL would gain clubs from Eastern Counties and South Midlands leagues.
