You may get a sore neck watching, its like a game of tennis.

Nothing like it was 10 years ago when I played in it.
You're forgetting that our team would be class!!!!

Sounds like some of the teams in the Conference. It's not opposition that should decide if game will be exciting, but your team and how they perform and fight to win.

I'm reading loads of really good positive stuff on here about a phoenix club and I'm getting quite excited about the prospect, but a little thing is nagging away at me so I'm hoping someone can clarify this for me - my worry is we seem to have loads of people with cracking ideas and enthusiasm - but have we any leaders? By that I mean people prepared to stand up and take the lead roles, such as Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and obviously other Director/Committee members roles?

Its all well and good being enthusiastic and keen, but we need those leaders and at the moment I'm confused as to who is really taking the lead to actually make it happen and who is prepared to fulfil these roles (or potentially fill them)?? I'm not trying to piss on anyone's parade here, but its important to ask now.

If we haven't got these people, then we're dead before we even start - and before anyone asks I'm not pushing myself forward here, I will help all I can, but I've not got the experience, skills and knowledge to pull this off, but I will do all I can to help and support them.

I'm aware not everyone who might want to be involved is probably a member of this messageboard, but just wanted to see if people on here knew anyone "up" for it?

Good points raised their Piggers.

I think at the moment we have a collective who are throwing ideas and views around, building up a plan of action but as you said, at some point clear roles need to be defined.

I would love to play a key role but I hardly see my family as it is in the cricket season which now stretches to almost 10 months of the year.

Its the main reason why I haven't been able to get to Nene Park in over 20 months but I would love to offer my help in any way little way with regards to communication / media.

If we can all work together the new Club can and will be a success.

Whats needed is a steering group organised very quickly to get the ball rolling, identify first steps and pull together an action plan, one of those actions needs to be identifying people with the right skills and knowledge to move this forward. A robust business plan also should be high on the agenda. They might not necessarily be the people who run the new club, but who just start to get the thing moving.

I say it needs to be done quickly because if we don't tap into all of this enthusiasm now we may lose momentum and as people go off and have their holidays and start to get involved in other things over the summer.

The points you raise Stalin are why I'm a tad concerned, because I'm in the same boat as you and can't commit too much to a venture such as this. With family commitments in Norfolk and Bucks and working all the hours god sends I can't commit to get as involved as much I'd like, the worry is many will feel the same and we find we don't have enough people to make it work.

Good points Jim. I think the above is in the works, we need that first meeting. Whilst we can't look too far ahead in terms of name, badge, ground, which needs to be discussed by the fans, we shouldn't look too far ahead negatively (I know you're not, I hope you get my meaning).

There are people looking into how to set up a Phoenix club, plus in this topic the AFC Telford chairman has offered to talk to us about getting this off the ground. There may be things that we're not aware of yet that means certain things may not be as tough as we might think, although that's not to downplay or throw obstacles in the way.

Just some food for thought. I'm looking forward to having a meeting on all this. :)

To be fair, Wimbledon were a much bigger club than we ever were. Agree with the rest though.

I'd already made the same point as Piggers about the need for a steering group and the Phoenix club venture will only succeed if it's based on firm foundations and whilst it's a good idea to talk AFC Telford I'm sure that they may have been in a better situation than us when they decided to re-form since they probably had existing club administrators who would commit to the new club together with a recently built stadium to occupy. We do not have this I feel unless, of course, you can get the likes of people such as Helen Thompson, Rachel Roberts and perhaps others who have had in the past the necessary experience of running a football club at senior county/UCL level. We have quite a few younger members interested who clearly would assist/support but it really needs a few wise older sages to initially fill the roles that Piggers has mentioned.

The venture needs to be established on firm foundations and whilst it is OK to have a dream about getting back to the BSP league it must start at a level that is viable and can be sustained and I hope that our younger fans realize this and don't get carried away thinking that any league that is entered will be a walk over or they will quickly lose heart and interest.

If I was younger  then I would love to help having had experience in sports club administration over a considerable period and I wish the new venture every success since I would love to take in a few matches to give my support.
