Just playing devil's advocate here but if our finances are as bad as we suspect they are would you rather that the Beasants negotiate on a Tomlin buy-out clause now to see us through a financial sticky patch or wait until we've folded and then any further money on Tomlin's deal goes direct to our creditors?

True but he's right that when Tomlin is sold, we lose out on money that would stabilise us for years rather than the months that this deal does.

It may not be the sell on clause since Peterborough still owe us £50,000 for Tomlin over the next five months. It may be that rather than a sell on clause that has been sacrificed (if anything has, we don't know).

I know Tomlin is an "asset" for them, so in a business point of view selling him to sort debts is the norm... but it just seems a short term solution, I was hoping the Day sale would be the short term solution, with a sell on from Tomlin setting the club up long term. I find it worrying if the debt was so high we have had to sell our two biggest assets this quickly at discounted rates

Yes you are indeed correct but and here's the big but we, the rank and file fan, do not know the detailed state of the finances, we can't inspect the books, or view the list of outstanding creditors so we are very much reliant on the board making judgement calls regarding such matters. In an ideal world we would expect any monies from further sell-ons from Jackson, Tomlin and Day to be a nest egg for the future.

I think we're like any other football club in the lower leagues, living hand to mouth !!

This is what fans of some other clubs have had to deal with for years and years, its our first experience of this kind of financial strife, I think we need to get used to it, certainly in the short to medium term.

Its a battle to survive and cash in the hand now is better than some promise of it in the future .....especially if it helps us to survive. Whats the point of sell on clauses if you go bust before you get the cash??

Its one of those things, of course we'd love to have all the sell on clauses in place and still have the cash, but you can't always get what you want.

None of us know the full financial dealings of the club, we guess on here and generally make things up to fill in the gaps. We just have the worry of keeping a club to support - I'm just grateful that tomorrow afternoon I will be stood in the sunshine at NP and not being dragged around the shops and drinking coffee in Costa with the Mrs !!
