The changing face of the Conference
I recently obtained a second hand book written by Duncan Adams entitled 'The Essential Football Fan' which is a copy of his excellent web-site guide to football grounds which I'm sure many of us consulted before making away trips in our Football League days.
The book was published in 2003 and contained a section on the Football Conference. What particularly shocked me, when I looked at it, was that there are only 2 clubs listed out of the 22 that currently ply their trade in the BSP league!
Without consulting records, is there anyone who might like to name these two clubs? A little clue here, neither are what you would describe as big hitters. ;)

Forest Green and Crawley? Maybe even Altrincham.

Re: The changing face of the Conference
It's quite a surprise how much things have changed. One of the reasons is that many of those teams have gone bust and / or been forcibly relegated due to financial / ground issues - up to 8 of them I reckon.

If we look back to when we were last here it's more.

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

I would suggest H&Y don't count and the scum were relegated the season we got promoted so wouldn't have been in the Conference in 2003.wewantourdarbyback wrote:If we look back to when we were last here it's more.
