I struggle to wrap my head around all this.diamondsteve wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 12:17 pm Their bar & food doesn’t make any profit setch has said. Also the revenue they produce is step 5 worth . Their in shit creek
They can't possibly generate Step 5 level revenue with crowds of 600+ regularly.
I've heard them talk about a budget that doesn't allow them to remain in this league. Their budget now - as I understand it - is still substantially higher than Michael Harriman enjoyed last season when he finished 13th. I have a suspicion that they are out of touch with reality on that front.
It is entirely possible to lose money on food unless you have someone who knows what they are doing responsible for it. We are very fortunate that we do and currently make around 30p in the £ clear profit.
I have no experience in running a bar. We obviously ran up a horrible loss previously. Im confident we wouldn't do that if the chance ever presented itself again however I am not sure what a football club bar at this level should be generating in profit so couldn't comment on that.
There are unknowns like rent etc, but I would presume they pay something to the local council for Steel Park which I expect wouldn't be particularly high. Our rent at HR is probably higher.
Lastly, citing Harborough as a benchmark is interesting. They've done a lot of things very well on their way up, but I would imagine they've lost an awful lot ot money doing it and as everyone knows, there is a lot of external investment going on there.
Just absolutely baffling all round. To think that they can lose £80k p/a whilst we turn a £5k profit, in the same league, despite them having much bigger crowds and us having no bar or food (last season). Makes no sense at all.
