Congratulations Peaksy
Well done to Tamworth Diamonds and Peaksy in particular. I always thought this was a winnable game for Tamworth and so it proved. Superb winning goal
Re: Congratulations Peaksy
Well done to Peaksy.
Tamworth - Manager - ex Diamonds Assistant manager - ex Diamonds two of their most effective players, Fairlamb and Tshikuna, ex Diamonds. Number of times Diamonds were mentioned in the commentary - nil
This afternoon another ex Diamonds managed team, Northampton Town, are playing someone else. Hope Jon Brady's team get a convincing win!

I'll echo that. It's striking to look at the directions the two clubs have taken since Andy Peaks made the move from the Diamonds - weren't the Diamonds ahead of Tamworth at the time?sussexdiamond wrote: Fri Nov 01, 2024 11:11 pm Well done to Tamworth Diamonds and Peaksy in particular. Quite clearly he's done an incredible job there. Of that there is no debate at all.Formic wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 3:32 pmI'll echo that. I'm quite content however that the issues that our Club has faced since he departed would have occurred anyway. The damage wouldn't have been as bad, though.
He got out at the perfect time.

Re: Congratulations Peaksy
I often wonder what might have been. Tamworth have had seven ex Diamonds players to get where they are today, plus Peaks and Champs plus a wealthy Chairman.
Had they all stayed we would certainly have made the play offs that season.
As Bartonnraz says though it was the off field stuff that brought us down along with the worst manager in our history.

I see comments on Twitter whenever Tamworth do well (which is obviously often), along the lines of ‘imagine if Diamonds had backed him properly’.sussexdiamond wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 4:33 pm I often wonder what might have been. Peaksy is a legend and I love seeing him do well, however I’m not certain he could’ve been backed any further - wasn’t the club losing significant money around the time of his departure?
I’m sure he would’ve gotten us in to the playoffs of course regardless of any further potential backing. He definitely did make the right decision leaving though, as harsh as that sounds.

I don't think anyone begrudges him moving to Tamworth. A good career move and now he is likely to be on the radar of a few bigger National League clubs and even League two clubs.
