I'm not saying we should match or surpass what we did last season as we certainly overachieved and I don't expect that this season. I don't think anyone does. What I am saying though is that we shouldn't accept being substantially worse.Adrian wrote: Thu Aug 18, 2022 11:51 pmBut I thought Jon Dunham said that both the Diamonds and the Poppies overachieved last season and did very well to even be in contention for the play off's.BartonRaz wrote: Thu Aug 18, 2022 9:02 pm what we can't and shouldn't accept is being substantially worse than we were last season with what we believe is a similar or unchanged budget.
The Poppies apparently also have the same budget as last season - like us and also just like us - on paper their fans don't think their squad looks as good as it did last season.
Overachieving isn't going to happen every year, maybe we shouldn't be so expectant.

Last season we started bad, we didn't get going until the middle of October. How has everyone forgotten this already? Have some patience guys, there isn't some savior alternative manager that is going to get us to win the league with our budget. The most important thing is we play attractive entertaining football that is enjoyable for the fans to watch in my opinion (plus an FA cup run would be nice please!)

I was trying to be positive during pre-season, but got accused by an individual on here of living in an echo chamber, and being a friend of the board!
Not the greatest of starts, but I believe the team will start picking up results eventually.

Try telling that to striking train staff. The togetherness during Covid is well and truly forgotten

I like & respect Burg but then stats are shocking and embarrassing.Ricky330 wrote: Fri Aug 19, 2022 6:17 amAt face value competitive split looks very even W5 D5 L6 but its worth noting 3 of Burge 5 wins came in his 1st 5 games when the team were still buzzing from that incredible run that Peaksy put together. Since then he has 2 wins from 11 games (4 of those games with new squad) .mattparker wrote: Thu Aug 18, 2022 9:50 pmso from my calculations if we maintain this competitive form in the league (1.25 points per game) we would have finished 11th or 12th last season ?
When did Lee Glover come in as coach anyone know?

That said - if we’re talking football as we should be, we ARE in it all together - I believe there is a decent team in there and a few more games will see us improve, we just need that illusive first win for confidence! It’ll come!

So even with a good squad, 2 wins from the last 7 at the tail end of the season.Ricky330 wrote: Fri Aug 19, 2022 6:17 am At face value competitive split looks very even W5 D5 L6 but its worth noting 3 of Burge 5 wins came in his 1st 5 games when the team were still buzzing from that incredible run that Peaksy put together.

If we want a wee bit of happy balling news for this evening... well done to Alex Collard, Liam Dolman, Luke Fairlamb, TY Deacon and Andy Peaks for thrashing Bedford 8-1 at the New Eyrie today.
- Play it out from the back.
- 1 up front.
- Man gets one good result via a new manager bounce and thinks he's Pep Guardiola.

Unreal from Peaks team today. They are becoming title favs already .
