That's a pretty fair analysis of the team today, who restricted needham market to shots mainly from distance although snedker was called into action at least 5 times. Evan had a solid debut and was our best outfield player and lashley did well at left back. Going to take some time for the cobblers lads to fit in, but like bartonraz said, think burge took off the wrong striker. Surprised snelus didn't get a chance to come on, bring a bit more first team experience up top. Hopefully the team have built some confidence from picking up a point today and can push on from therefentiger79 wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 5:55 pm Wasn’t sure what to expect today but my assessment is
Sneds is a top top quality keeper
Thought Courtney at left back and Evan are very promising. Paddy doesn’t seem happy. Midfield was a bit average as a whole and the attack was weak but, I though for the first game it was pretty much ok. Yes, they had some good chances but we did hit the post and miss an open goal. Additions most definitely needed especially around the target man position. The lad from cobblers was a bit lost and owned by their centre half.

bozzer wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 6:22 pm For a start I will take that as a result, as people have said Sneds made some great saves but it was great to have a clean sheet, Evan was class and Courtney looks promising. Miguel also looks a great prospect. I thought Jessie was slightly off his usual game. Cooper looked decent too, for a first competitive fixture for this lot as a team it is certainly something to build on.
As the players improve and develop we will only get better, add a couple of additions and Fossen back and I’m happy where we are.
That’s a nice positive outlook I like it. But I definitely needs just that and no less .

Clean sheet & a point much better than a hammering & a loss so a positive start .
My concern was not so much the players but Burges tactics & set up. Very defensive set up with not a lot of emphasis on winning the game. Looked like he settled for the draw after 30 mins which was confirmed when he took Cooper off (wrong player to take off) and tried to pack out the midfield after an hour. Not very ambitious against an average Needham. IMO

Interesting comments from Burge in his post match interview; very confident of one new (experienced) face before next week, and possibly two, plus maybe Matty Fossen finally getting his international clearance through. I imagine one of the new signings would be a striker, as we are very light in terms of both numbers and experience there.

Totally agree with Dave. Burge ticked all the right boxes in his summary for me, I thought Miguel was too far back and got caught in possession too often, but potentially good.

Defence looked much more structured today, Evan is such a force and looking back at one move today, he could be our set pieces threat. Furlong was quieter than usual and Ngwa is such a raw talent but can see potential.
Apart from that very much a boring affair from us attacking wise, a lot of long passing into the middle. Needham will think how they haven’t got the 3 points as Snedker pulled out some great stops and a clearance from under the bar, a fine example of what quality a little extra money can bring. The 1 or 2 experienced players burge mentions are clearly needed and look forward to seeing who those are.

No volunteers available I think. The pa system is working and was used for a few announcements including pre match, attendance and MoM.
