Re: New Manager
I don't think a better appointment could have been made.
The board got it right when Starms stepped down, I think they've got it right again.

Re: New Manager
Good experience, good contacts, good name to get some excitement back into the club. Hard to see many downsides to the appointment.
As Burg said 11 cup finals (plus an actual one…) so lets see what happens

Re: New Manager
Was only talking on Saturday about local boy Lee Glover to a couple of colleagues. He played in the same Corby/K*ttering Schoolboys XI with Sean Dyche in a representative match at the official opening of the Rockingham Triangle Athletic Stadium Corby in 1985. Highly qualified as a UEFA Pro coach and would be well known to Burge.BartonRaz wrote: Mon Feb 28, 2022 1:45 pm Assistant Manager appointed - Lee Glover.

Re: New Manager
Well know guy in the local area and must have a vast knowledge level of coaching. But of trivia for you - That he appeared for nottingham forest in the 1991 fa cup final, opposite justin Edinburgh of spurs, same game where Gascoigne did his knee!

AFC R & D member number 34
Re: New Manager
Ten year later he was in the Macclesfield side that hosted the Diamonds in their third ever game in the Football League - it ended 0-0, and I remember it was a poor game, especially after the excitement of having beaten Burnley at Turf Moor in midweek.TheIncognitoKid wrote: Mon Feb 28, 2022 2:08 pm Well know guy in the local area and must have a vast knowledge level of coaching. Re: New Manager
All credit to the club for sorting this out, have always wanted him to be involved with AFC and like others have said I love that we can get someone with such a strong connection to the old club (and one of my all time favourites too!). Really impressed with the assistant choice as well, exciting to have someone with professional experience at the club. But definitely glad the rest of the backroom staff is unchanged, continuity is key at this stage of the season.
Time will tell whether Burge is ultimately the right man for the job going forward, but for me, as long as he can keep us in a top 5 spot and take us to the playoffs which is very much ours to lose now after Peaksy's excellent work, then he deserves a go at the job permanently imo. Looking forward to seeing his contacts come into fruition, hopefully he can get us some good youngsters on loan which is something we've missed the past couple of seasons.
It was a poor game on Saturday, but I didn't care, we haven't gone out and comprehensively beaten teams this season, but what this team does have is a knack to just simply winning games and that was on show on Saturday, certainly settled my nerves following the departure of Peaks, you never know what such changes in management are going to do!
