[ Sat 29th Jul ] VOLUNTEERS - HAYDEN ROAD

Post by Dazzler »

Volunteers are needed for some work on Saturday morning - see Twitter here. Am sure the Burgermonster will be here early and able to provide the odd bacon roll and cup of tea for anyone who is able to help for a few hours.

Thanks to those that are down here at Hayden Road this morning for some pre-match groundworks, concreting far side path, ladies toilet entry, and turnstile entryway onto road.

Fair play to every volunteer, brilliant togetherness! Also big well done to Dunc R smashing that wall/steps out so the tunnel could be fitted.Hayden rd has improved massively and now looking a tidy little ground.

They built the walls/steps strong back in the day. Not sure if that Wall/Steps were from the 50's or earlier, as there were other steps into the stand at each end until recently. Maybe somebody can remember? It was fully infilled with stone/gravel as well, so luckily we had an 4 or 5 volunteers on Friday to help barrow it up to the top out of the way - many barrow runs, plus a top up of Lucozade Sport. And they thought they were coming just to paint ;-)

We then re-infilled with Northamptonshire Dry Stone Walling using the concrete from the steps before boarding up. Still work to do on the floor surface in that area to level it up.

This work was important so that we could get the Tunnel put in (same tunnel we had at the DnD) which is a requirement for grading.
