FIXTURE CHANGES

Post by sussexdiamond »

Shame about playing at Lincoln midweek as I was planning to meet up with relatives on the original date of the Saturday in April and that date would also have ensured a good crowd. Now being played on the Tuesday before Christmas.

We now face 3 away games in that week before Christmas. Shaw Lane, Lincoln and Chasetown.(Strange idea to be playing on Xmas Eve even if it is a Saturday.
We also face a "double header" now against Loughborough on the 19th and 22nd of November.

Who would be a fixtures secretary.? It must be the most difficult job in football administration.

The Chasetown fixture was moved to after the Stamford game some time ago.

We might as well give the points to Lincoln for the pre-Christmas game if previous away games just before Christmas in past seasons are anything to go by.

Fair play to them moving games around to ensure the Leek and Northwich games are on Saturdays rather than Tuesdays. That would have been awful for the travelling side in each case.

The Southern League didn't show that sort of common sense last season, sending Fleet to play us on a Tuesday night which is ridiculous at this level.

Agreed. The fixture secretary also seems to take into account that forthcoming cup games may have an impact - she waited until it was clear various fixtures would be called off next weekend before doing the changes relating to previous postponements. We've just got the challenge of making sure people are aware of the Loughborough game - but at least we have the home Trophy game (as well as the Corby game) before it to let those without internet access know.

Did think the fixtures secretary for this league was a step up from what we have been used to, however the near 300 mile round trip for us going to Whitton and the return fixture both being moved to a Tuesday night makes me think he/she was given a clown costume for Christmas.

Totally agree that the fixtures secretary must of had a bit too much Christmas Cheer when rearranging this fixture!! But at least both the home & away games are on a Tuesday giving both sides a really difficult midweek trip which I guess is at least fair on both teams? It's a shame as I was really looking forward to going to the away game but definitely won't be able to make it now :nono: :nono: :nono:
