Trophy and cup games are a bonus as far as I'm concerned, we don't need to risk half fit players so I'm happy with Brad and Tom at centre half if required. Pick a fully fit team I say.

FA Cup and FA Trophy games are much more than a bonus, they are the games that keep the club solvent. The prize money we have accumulated over the past couple of seasons has been vital in securing our existence. We would struggle financially on league match income only.

Do you have evidence for that? Most clubs budget based on league revenues then regard cup games as bonus - and I believe we would do that too - but equally I have no evidence that is the case.sussexdiamond wrote:Three of Diamonds wrote:Trophy and cup games are a bonus as far as I'm concerned, we don't need to risk half fit players so I'm happy with Brad and Tom at centre half if required. If we would struggle on league income only, how do the rest of the teams in our league manage? There are only 6 teams who average over 200, we are nearly 200 over the next one. Our lowest is higher than anyone's average, and our average is well above anyone else's highest! Nearly half the league have had an attendance below 100!

A couple of years ago we were budgeting on league attendances of around 300 or so, not sure what it is now. We can't be using the unknown of cup runs to survive it'd be crazy.

Any club that includes cup revenue in it's budget and I've known of a few in the past is mad and run by fools and that IMO does not include us. We have enjoyed gates of double + that of anyone in any league we have played in and with our entrance charges this season being higher than almost everyone else at Step 4 I would like to think cup revenue is looked at as a bonus.sussexdiamond wrote:Three of Diamonds wrote:Trophy and cup games are a bonus as far as I'm concerned, we don't need to risk half fit players so I'm happy with Brad and Tom at centre half if required. As no last minute signings announced, though difficult given it's a Cup game so a likelihood of players being ineligible, presume we have at least 15 fit ish available. May just be one of those days when what some would call a scratch side is fielded, everything clicks and we are treated to a special performance. That said it is only the cup and for me next Saturday is more important & whan we need players back fit.

You only have to look at the club accounts. What was our annual loss/profit? How much income did we get from prize money?

Thought Lincoln were a useful outfit who caused us some real problems, but as we know, with players missing and walking wounded we expected a though one and they exploited that!
Pleased to get the draw in the end - trip to Lincoln it is then!
Poor referee though, what is it when a referee's assessor comes a visiting? Dreadful !!

Nah, what they said on the NPL Show was between us and Lincoln, we'd earned about £40,000 in prize money combined, which when you take into account Lincoln got to the 4th Qualitying round in the FA Cup makes sense.diamondsteve wrote:Heard on a podcast today that we have earned over 40 grand on cup runs this season not sure how true it was from a jonalist
