Just viewed the Spalding version of highlights. How on earth Winters was even penalized let alone shown a yellow is an outrageous decision.

If there is any facility to contest bookings then surely this one must be contested.

Three times in the first half Spalding players committed fouls that should have all been yellow cards.

I was really amused to see when Bunting scored he ran straight over to the linesman...not sure if that was coincidence or was he making a point.

10:50 for the 'red card'
Looks absolute rubbish from that angle!

I don't think the ref will be saving a copy of those highlights. When you consider two of the worst challenges of the game - by Spalding #9 on McNulty and by Spalding #4 on Brad in the first half didn't get yellows, and you also see the blatant push on Bully in the first half that he missed - yet McNulty seemed to get a yellow for a challenge near half-way that had little impact although the ref tried to suggest there was some kind of totting up. The first yellow for Winters looks fair enough, but I still can't understand why he was shown the second one. The linesman seems to just signal for a Spalding throw, and then the play acting and appeals kick in and he changes his mind.

At least justice was done in the scoreline, but Winters will have to serve a two game ban as yellow cards can't be appealed.

I don't think the Spalding #9 will be attaching a copy of these highlights to his football CV either.

We celebrated Mr F ington because we were behind in a game and we didn't deserve to be, we were reduced to 10 Men due to your No 3 rolling about as if he wasn't injured, as anyone who has sustained a genuine injury would not be able to put on a performance like that, then with 10 Men we came back from 1 down to win and that for me is worth a celebration. He noted how they scored with a set piece, though that was always likely as for 90% of the game that's all they offered. If that was a team who with a win last night would have gone top then it's either not as good a league as I thought, they have been very lucky or they had a very bad day yesterday as for me they were bang average, and what's happened to the Step 2 defender, I always rated Mr Stainfield as one of the best central defenders we played against in the UCL, but last night he was dreadful and should have had first use of the showers long before Rory was offered the opportunity to use them.
Great team performance excluding the slow start to the 2nd half but the Red Card if anything worked in out favour, so a big thank you to the Lino on the stand side for seeing and pointing out whatever it was you think you saw.
I've just read the Spalding Manager's comments - http://www.spaldingtoday.co.uk/sport/fo ... -1-7656994 - and you get the impression he has to keep on saying his team was the better side in order to try to believe it himself. Fortunately the match highlights help to show how blinkered he was. It certainly makes a change in the AFC R&D era for Mark Lea to witness one of our games where we beat a team from the flatlands.

i thought the comment that we celebrated like we had won't the league just shows how out of touch he was, the celebrations were because we won despite the referee!

Also quite agree with Mark Lea, who seemed to put the boot in so many times over the last few years.

Still on the Spalding theme, there is an article in their local rag about the possibility of a 3G pitch - http://www.spaldingtoday.co.uk/news/is- ... -1-7660916 There are some interesting numbers about how much assistance the Tulips are getting towards their costs - e.g they play on a council owned ground and the council also pick up a £40k maintenance tab each season. No wonder they can afford to attract the players they have on fairly small gates.

It looks like pie in the sky to suggest they might move elsewhere as they'd have to pick up all of those costs themselves

It is interesting to see the different arrangements that clubs have at non-league level relating to grounds that they occupy as tenants. A ground that we recently visited that has a 3G surface, namely Jubilee Park in Hendon, has an owner who charges Hendon FC and the other tenant, Edgware Town, a peppercorn rent for use. However, the owner makes his money from charging other users to hire this pitch during the week for playing and training purposes and retains all the bar and catering profits at the ground. Probably the reason that there was zero advertising boards around the perimeter of the ground.

Love the bit, we dominated the game and thought we had weathered the storm, surely if they were that dominant the would have been no storm to weather would there?

To quote their Goal keeper when they were 1-0 up, and we had had winters sent off. He smirked and said:

"A wins a win" :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

It would have been if we only played 80 minutes. Bang Bang 2-1.

Never over till the fat lady sings. :harhar:
