  • Play it out from the back.
  • 1 up front.
  • Man gets one good result via a new manager bounce and thinks he's Pep Guardiola.

Make that one for us now! Jesse is a good start.

One name sticks out on there for Ilkeston, Chris O'Grady?? Name from the past but only a couple of years ago he was playing in league 1. Ilkeston I recall announced a retained list pretty much immediately after their season had finished, so I'm assuming they must have a good budget!

Budget wise so have new boys Basford Utd, they signed a player on a 2 Year Contract, you don,t do that without money, Ilkeston and Basford could give Tamworth and Coalville a fight for the Top

Besides the obvious I think Bromsgrove have done some decent business there. Brown, Sweeney, Fry, Taylor and Edmunds are all decent players at this level. Can't see them struggling like they did last year.

Ilkeston clearly have some £ and must have a seriously high average age looking at that. Ben Turner, Chris O'Grady, Jamie Ward and Saul Deeney are all well in to their 30's and the latter 3 are closer to 40!

Cam Moore signed for Redditch from Loughborough Students last week, I wonder if he played for them against us last weekend.

Think he did. Thought he was their best player, as well as their big striker who was a constant pain in the backside for Ryan and Paddy.

Well we are just days away from the opening day and there are 2 clubs that seem to not have announced any signings at all.

Barwell - there is a Barwell supporter on Twitter who posted a week ago that there are lots of squad changes so it will be interesting to see who lines up for them.

Needham Market - they signed a new website this summer rather than players :onhead:

If those 2 clubs had forums I would guess there would be a few fans concerned at the lack of player announcements, unless they have Facebook groups.

Needham Market have announced 5 signings.

That's a total of 151 summer movers, not all have been mentioned on the Southern League website, including the 2 that Sussex Diamond pointed out so the actual number could be higher.

Bromsgrove Sporting are the 'Top Signers' with 13 and upon looking at their team photo which is the Southern League's Season Preview I noticed that they are managed by former K*ttering Town manager Thomas Baillie who I think actually won this league with them so I am surprised that wasn't mentioned in the preview as that should stand them in good stead.

Baillie was actually joint manager, in tandem with Scott Machin, at the Ploppies when they won promotion at Step level 4 about 7 years ago but his contract was not renewed much to his annoyance and Marcus Law was the manager when they achieve promotion from the SLPC in our first season at Step 3 level. I wondered whether Baillie applied for the vacant position with us when Andy Peakes resigned?
Baillie was previously manager at Stratford Town and Director of Football at Tamworth until last February shortly before Peakes was appointed. He was also in charge of Youth Football about 12-13 years ago at the Ploppies being based in the Corby area with Norwich City scouting for local talent.
