They knew all along that they would be thrown out of the Competition for fielding ineligible players. There was no intention of cheating as they informed the NFA well before the day of the game apparently.
If correct then the situation is even more daft. They tell the competition organisers in advance they intend using ineligible players, turn up with enough eligible ones to field a side but still start with ineligible ones. It’s either taking the piss out of the Northants FA or arrogant enough to think nothing would be done. If those at NFA knew in advance they should have either stopped it on the night or the fine should be greater. Not sure how pre planning to play two ineligible players is not cheating. If you inform someone you intend hitting them in 2 days time is it then not assault when you do it.
As a footnote does anyone know what the attendance was or are the £ still being counted and divided.
