Shaw Lane 4-0 up
Witton beating Leek 2-1
Newcastle losing 1-0

Could be a good night without us kicking a ball

Newcastle won 2-1 and jump above us in the table.

Sandy is back at Stamford and scored tonight.

Leek lost 2-1 against Witton.

Lincoln's 3-0 win at Stocksbridge really puts them in contention - probably with a better chance than Basford or Leek of pushing Diamonds or Newcastle out of the playoff places. They still have to play Newcastle twice.

Lincoln play Newcastle on Saturday.
and Leek play Spalding.

two draws would probably be best for us, as long as we win at MD

I had also noticed Lincoln United bringing themselves in contention.

Maximum points possible for each of the top contenders are:
Shaw Lane 107
Witton 104
Spalding 89
AFCRD 85
Newcastle 85
Lincoln 79
Basford 77
Leek 75

3rd place is possible. Ourselves and Spalding have 3 "big" games to play. Both of us have away games at Witton and Leek. We have Newcastle at home and Spalding have Lincoln away.

Newcastle have yet to play Lincoln home and away, Shaw Lane h, AFCRD a, Leek h and Basford a

***Just spotted Spalding also have Basford h.

If ourselves and Lincoln have a good run-in we could conceivably finish 3rd. and fourth which would mean a fifth meeting of the season.
