FIXTURE CONGESTION

Of the top 6 only Shaw Lane have all their fixtures arranged. They have just one free date should any game be postponed from now. 28/3

Witton have every Saturday and Tuesday booked up so will probably have to play Spalding on Thursday after Easter Monday, 2 days before final round of matches on 22/4

Spalding have the least congestion with 6 spare dates, they have to re arrange Leek (a) but as said above will probably have to play Witton on Thursday 20/4.

Newcastle have just one game to re arrange v Romulus, but have two dates that are available to both sides.

Leek have just one game v Spalding (h) to re arrange but have two dates that are available to both sides.

That leaves Diamonds with two games outstanding v Chasetown (a) and Stocksbridge (h). Only dates compatible to both sides means 21st March v Chasetown and 11th April v Stocksbridge. And if we get past Buxton in the Integro Cup we will have to play semi final on 4th April, assuming our opponents don't have a fixture already scheduled.!!
I hope the fixtures secretary is praying very hard that no more games get postponed. Of course he/she could completely re arrange existing plans.

So do you still think it wasn't a good idea to play midweek games in January and February?

Surely my rant was correct. I said we should play more games in the autumn months. We only played 3 midweek league matches in August Sept and Oct.

I agree that we should play more games during the better weather which is generally up to the middle of November, that's beyond dispute, but I recall you said we shouldn't be playing any midweek games in January and February.

Anyway, ever since I've been watching football there has been some clubs that end up playing a lot of games in the last 4-5 weeks of the season. Not worth worrying about, it usually gets sorted.

It looks as though all outstanding fixtures have now been re arranged.

Starting next Tuesday(14th) Leek play Witton(a) AFC R & D (a) Witton (h) Spalding (h) in successive games. That should be a very interesting test for them !!!

It could be building to a mighty climax in the last week of the season. On Easter Saturday Newcastle play at D & D and on the Monday are at home to Leek.

Easter Monday sees 5 of the top teams away from home and the last day of the season has 5 of the top six all at home (the exception being Newcastle at Basford.)

Everything to play for!!!

Lets hope the weather is kind for the rest of the season. It has been known to snow at Easter.
