Play off Opponents

Royston beat Aylesbury 3-2 tonight.

So as things stand at the moment we go to Hertfordshire next week, but of course a lot can happen on saturday. I cannot see us beating Godalming let alone expecting St Ives to slip up at North Greenford.

Ploppies won 7-0 tonight so have boosted their GD, overtaking Weymouths. Should Leamington fail to get the point they need at home to Hungerford then Ploppies are best placed to take the final place if they win at Dorchester.

With the Royston win tonight (3-2) has made it tight at the top.

Top 3 cover by 2 points. With Royston and Egham having a better goal difference than Kings Langley.

The pressure will be on Kings Langley.

I wonder who we'll get away, Kings Langley, Egham or Royston. I don't know which one I'll prefer.

I suppose it would all change a lot on Saturday to see who we play, in the play offs.

The absolutely perfect scenario would be for us to finish fourth and meet St Ives at home in the final on Bank Holiday Monday in front of over 1000 fans.

I agreed that would be ideal but very unlikely to happen.
Not only would both us and St. Ives have to win our away semi-finals at 2 of Kings Langley, Royston or Egham, but also St. Ives to either fail to win at bottom club North Greenford whilst we beat in form Godalming, or we draw and St. Ives lose on Saturday.

I'll settle for a match at Royston on Tuesday evening and then let's see where that takes us.

I think whoever we get is going to be tough.

We need to setup and take this chance, we had top spot, lost it, nearly didnt make playoff, MADE PLAYOFF's.

Now its time to really start playing on Tuesday, there's no where for anyone to hide.

We really have no chance whatsoever in the play offs, or of even beating Godalming tomorrow, or of beating Ploppies.

Just seven goals in the last ten games,(4 in one game) our recognized strikers injured, the only wins against teams in the bottom six.

Kidology or realistic?.

We do have a chance because every game starts 0-0 and football throws up so many surprises. The players have to let the form guide go out the window and prepare for three cup finals with tomorrow being a warm up. Let's get behind the players and be that 12th man that's helped the club climb two divisions in three years. This is just another chapter in the young life of afc that we can all be a part of!

Anything can happen in the playoffs..

Leicester v Watford anyone?

is like to see Claudio back on free kicks properly, something like that could be the difference.
