And it is a takeaway, as the Tories pledge £3 million to grassroots football in China, while turning a blind eye as the Premier League fail to deliver on their promise to support grassroots football with money from the Sky TV deal.
To put it into perspective £3 million quid would pay for 6 full size 3 pitches, which could be used 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year. The ROI on a 3g pitch is about three years after which time you are in profit and can continue to invest in facilities.
In the East Northants catchment area there is precisely one 3g pitch which, by my back of a fag packet calculation is supposed to support upwards of 150 youth, Saturday adult and Sunday adult teams.
It would be interesting to hear what Mr.Bone and Mr.Pursglove have to say on the matter.
