Similar situation to yourselves.
Reformed from the ashes of Hereford Utd.
Have an agreement with Hereford Council to use Edgar St (former home of Hereford Utd)

Where will they start?............... Level 9 like yourselves?
Take it you won't be happy if they start higher?

We actually started at level 10 (step 6). It wouldn't surprise me if the FA decided to enter them at step 5, as the rules seem to change for every club in this situation, but I'm not that bothered really.

I do think that re-formed clubs able to keep the ground of the previous club have a massive advantage over the likes of ourselves and Darlington. It would be just like supporting the same team, just at a lower level.

The likes of Chester and Halifax have flown up the leagues, albeit from a higher starting point.

Agreed, but there is a similarity in the two stadiums vacated by us and Darlo in that they were both unsuitable for occupation for a 'Phoenix' club. I was quite shocked when we visited Chester in 2001 to see how basic their relatively new ground was in comparison with Nene Park.
The biggest problem Hereford FC have with Edgar Street is deciding which parts of the ground remain closed as, I understand, it is not in the best of condition and has many Health & Safety issues.

I remember visiting Edgar St back in the 80s when Swindon were in their ascendancy and was amazed that the visiting supporters were placed in a gravel enclosure. Talk about providing ammunition!!

I think part of the justification for placing Darlo at Step 5 rather than Step 6 was that they were a phoenix club for a team that had competed the previous season. I suspect that will be the same argument for Hereford, but it would certainly be a case of ripping up the rulebooks if they were placed higher than step 5.

"If a Club (whether a Members’ Club or a Company) is wound up, liquidated, ceases to trade
or is removed from its League or withdraws from football competition (‘the Former Club’),
and then wishes to establish a new Club (‘the New Club’) and be placed within the NLS
other than as set out in Regulation 5.3, then unless otherwise determined by the LC, it will
be allowed to make an application only to join a League/division at step 5 of the NLS unless
the Former Club was in either Step 4 or Step 5 when the event which caused it to cease
its membership occurred in which case it must re-join the NLS at a minimum of two Steps
below the level at which it was at the time the event occurred, or withdrew from football
competition, whichever is lower. Where the Former Club is a member of The FA Premier
League or Football League in the current Playing Season then the LC shall at its absolute
discretion determine in which league within the NLS the New Club shall be placed for the
following Playing Season and will set out at its complete discretion the requirements to be
met by the New Club."
