UCL Div One & Step 6 Applicants...

Hopefully we're not in the UCL next year, but if we are we could potentially draw some of the following in the UCL KO Cup. The below have applied for promotion from Step 7 to Step 6 next season and would probably be in the UCL if accepted:
Wisbech St Mary FC
Coates Athletic FC
Netherton United FC
Oakham United FC
Coates Athletic will be renamed Whittlesey Athletic next season after a merger between Coates and Whittlesey. Oakham United are already the highest ranked club from Rutland I believe.
In other news I noticed the following posted on the Non League Matters forum earlier today:
Email to the UCL received from The Football Association regarding the decision of the Leagues Committee, supported by the Step 5/6 Focus Group that all clubs operating at Step 6 should comply fully with the grading requirements for that Step by 31 March 2015.
The purpose of this email is to advise you that Adrian Titcombe will be in contact with those leagues that do have non-compliant clubs in due course in order to arrange an independent inspection of facilities.
Clubs that fail Step 6:-
• Bourne Town
• Buckingham Town
• Lutterworth Athletic
• Northampton ON Chenecks
• Northampton Spencer
• Olney Town
• Raunds Town
• Rothwell Corinthians
• Rushden & Higham United
• Stewart & Lloyds Corby
• Thrapston Town
• Wellingborough Whitworth
Clubs are all reminded that they must either achieve or maintain the correct grade or may be demoted and also may be banned from FA competitions.

I'm surprised Buckingham don't meet the grading criteria ;) ;)
I'm quite surprised that non-compliance list has been leaked by the UCL - it looks the sort of thing that will come back to bite them if they end up with too many failures to cope with.

Visited Buckingham for their game v Irchester earlier this season (my first trip to Manor Fields). Was impressed - think much work has been done since our ore season game. Fully seated stand, good railings - just very cold when I went!

Only one of the above will be in the UCL next season. Wisbech are not going to finish in the top 5 of the Cambs League, and only one of the Peterboro League clubs can be promoted.

When my team played there in October you couldn't see the Libes, the grass was four inches high and the sub's had to sit in the stand as there were no dugouts. Awful place

If all those clubs in Div 1 have problems, then what hope do Thurnby have of retaining their Premier status. By far the worst ground and facilities we have ever visited!!

Apparently the UCL were forced to accept them into the Premier League by those blazer blokes in their ivory towers at the FA. This is despite the UCL telling them in no uncertain terms that their Dakyn Road ground did not reach ground grading standards required for Step 5 football.
I suspect that the UCL are currently on the case and it will interesting to see if they remain in the UCL Premier unless they seek an alternative ground to play at next season.

Once they had been forced upon the UCL Thurnby would automatically get a seasons grace to get facilities up to spec, bloody stupid arrangement but it is the FA. Can't see anyway they will get that crap hole we visited up to spec at which point they will hopefully be chucked back from whence they came and possible get another season to sort it, the long list of unacceptable grounds/facilities in UCL 1 is possibly a result of many Clubs over recent years ignoring set requirements from the UCL after ground inspections resulting in the FA steping in with a big stick to ensure enforcement. How long is the list of UCL Prem Clubs not up to spec who could face relegation, sure we can all think of a few.
Next years UCL, Prem 10 teams playing each other 4 times, Div 1 the same, let's hope we don't have to visit any of them.

I did mention this after the Thurnby game, but worth repeating.
When we played there the UCL Vice Chairman was at the ground checking out facilities. Specifically counting the number of seats in that apology of a stand behind the goal .
