Another new signing?

Did a bit of digging on google following the recent additions to our squad. Found a news piece saying we'd made an approach for Declan Rogers on 31st December!

Anyway, I also found the following link, which seems to suggest former Corby and Daventry striker Tom Berwick is on his way to us:

If true that's an absolutely fantastic signing! Scored over 50 goals in a single UCL season for Daventry a few years back and looked quality for Corby when I saw him there last season. Was comfortably their best player in the Southern League Premier. Spent the second half of last season with Hemel Hempstead as they won the SLP.

If this comes to pass, then we really are showing our determination to get out of the UCL, and preparing for next season.
We could be in for an exciting next three months!!

According to that article he "doesn't do bench" so that would be an issue.

Jon Dunham has just told him he's "too good for that level" which is helpful. Always nice to have the local Journo's onside.

If that's the case why have Daventry decided to 'bench' him bearing in mind they're thin on the ground with decent players. Has he not been playing very well for them?

It's a shame that the days when local journos remained neutral and left it to the managers/players/officials of the teams they covered to express opinions are long gone. With social media pages as well as online pages and the (declining) paper to fill, it's easier and cheaper to generate content by voicing their own opinions about what they've seen (or not seen). Many of them do their best in trying circumstances with few resources, but the decreasing levels of impartiality in the local media over the last few years has been disappointing to see.

I read that as

"I wanted too much money, but Daventry now have none at all so anything's better than nothing"

So on Sunday "it's all news to him" but on Tuesday “I had spoken to Diamonds a month or so ago about a possible move"

Someone hide the club bargepole
