I just noticed that ktfc are giving Kevin shoemake a testimonial and it says some of the money raised will go to the dale Roberts memorial fund.
Could anybody tell me what this funds please? I remember it was being set up but I can't find anywhere that says what the fund is for.

It's a fund set up by his parents and more information can be found within this report.

The Dale Roberts Memorial fund is a fund set up by George and Isabel Roberts to help worthy causes that Dale held dear to his heart. These include providing Christmas presents to children in a local hospital and helping youngsters off the streets and into football. The fund will also help people that find themselves in a similar situation to Dale.
Hope that answers your question?

;) No news yet of the 2014 match. I believe it's our turn to travel to County Durham to defend the trophy we won for the first time last season and is proudly on display in Dale's Bar. Now that our Under 18 side is a MAA team I wonder if the fixture is still on the Agenda?

There was some talk of this at the latest Forum, perhaps it should be discussed on the Members Forum as I don't want to give away plans that the club might not want in the public domain.

Thanks, Mark. Unfortunately I couldn't attend the last Forum so not up to speed on this issue.

Is it just me or does it appear a little strange to others as well that KS is being given a Testimonial?? His playing career with the Ploppies amounted to 1988-92 = 91 games 1992-94 =26, a grand total of 117 games over 7 years. With Roger Ashby at the top on 662 I would guess KS would come in around the 200 + mark in all time appearances with it being likely over half of those above him never having had a Testimonial. Was he some great star for them? 117 games in that amount of time would possibly suggest he either had major injury issues, or for much of his time was not even 1st choice, or was that the era of the 20 game season.
Now call me an old cynic if you like but, na just call me an old cynic. The Ploppies give a Testimonial to a ex player/coach who played 89 games more for them than us, and I would expect the time he spent coaching at Diamonds far exceeded that at Rockinghorse Road, said person is Chief Executive of NFA, Ploppies may possibly be looking at a funding requirement at proposed new ground, never know may become the new home of NFA as present base reportedly out grown. Offer 2 x 10% of surplus to Swain Benevolent & Dale Roberts Memorial as a tempter to all local non Ploppies, sure that`s after extensive set up and organisation costs have been taken out!!, 40% goes to the "lets keep baling Ploppies out fund" ironic but bale out is on same page in Oxford ED as Ballocks, as they use an a not a o.
Nice touch I would have to say, can`t wait for the new Ploppy home with i`m sure a main stand being named "The Shoe-in Stand".
As an alternative suggesting, when said game is played, we all meet down the D&D have a few drinks watch the grass grow and on way out but £10 in a bucket 100% of which can go the The Dale Roberts Memorial Fund.
An old cynic who hopes the is no truth in any of the above assumptions but sadly has his doubts.
